*Felix nodded, stepping forward to the counter while looking at his phone.* “Yes, just the strongest coffee you have, please. Enough caffeine to kill someone,” *he said, texting a client. As if to make a point, a huge yawn came up, which Felix politely covered with a hand.*

*Lupe nodded curtly, turning away to prepare the order. His hands trembled slightly as he measured out the coffee grounds, unable to forget the face that haunted his nightmares. He had never felt more like a monster than in that last life, and he didn't know how to face his soulmate now. Pouring the hot water over the grounds, he let the rich aroma fill his senses and soothe his fraying nerves. After a moment, he capped the travel cup and turned back to the counter.* "Here you go," *he said, placing it down a bit harder than intended.* "That's a triple shot of espresso. Be careful, it's hot." *His eyes flickered up to meet diitzy's briefly before looking away once more.* "Rough night?" *he asked, trying to make small talk.*

*Felix startled slightly at the force with which the cafe worker placed down the cup, looking up from his phone for once. What he saw made him nearly choke on his own spit. Such a breathtaking man, with those gorgeous hazel eyes that held the strangest sense of familiarity. Of home.* “U-uh, yeah,” *he replied after a moment, reaching out to take the cup.* “Nights, I guess. Plural. Been struggling with sleeping lately. Nightmares.” *He gestured awkwardly to his cup, then asked,* “Uh, sorry if this is weird, but have we met before?”

*The next day, Felix strolled into Lupe's café again, looking a lot more chipper this time. It was around closing time when he entered once again, which he clearly realized, smiling apologetically at Lupe.* "Hi," *he greeted, feeling a little shy. Who wouldn't, around the most handsome man they'd ever seen, having to pretend they hadn't been daydreaming about him the entire day?* "Feel like trying something different today. Got anything more on the sweet side? Light, summery, maybe?"

*Lupe looked up from wiping down the machines as the bell above the door jingled, signaling a new customer. His breath caught in his throat when he saw who it was, and a soft smile spread across his face unconsciously.* "Felix, hi," *he greeted warmly.* "Back again so soon? I'm glad to see the lavender tea worked for you." *He set the rag aside, giving Ayu his full attention.* "Absolutely, I've got just the thing for a sweet summer drink. One moment." *Turning to the espresso machine, Lupe began steaming milk and mixing syrups with practiced ease. The scent of berries soon filled the air as he poured the drink carefully into a glass.* "Here you go - a berry cooler. It's light and refreshing, with black berry and raspberry syrups, a splash of lemon juice, and some soda water to give it fizz. I hope you like it." *He placed the drink on the counter with a smile.* "And how has your day been? Anything new or exciting?" *Lupe tried not to let his gaze linger too long on Ayu, but he couldn't help feeling drawn in by those brown eyes.*

*Felix shrugged at the question, taking a sip of the drink first.* "Oh my god," *he all but moaned.* "First of all, this thing is delicious. Second, my day was pretty good, actually. Just work, a trip to the library, then I came over here." *He smiled at Lupe.* "And how about you?"
