(Marcus paces back & forth. Vanessa stands by the door with bags packed.)

VANESSA: Marcus, this isn’t working!

MARCUS: You’re always gone, Vanessa! How can we fix this if you’re never here?

VANESSA: I have my career! You think protein shakes & deadlifts are more important than art?

MARCUS: Maybe if you were home more, user wouldn’t feel so abandoned!

VANESSA: (teary-eyed) Don’t you dare blame me! I love you both, but I can’t give up my dreams!

(Vanessa picks up her bags & walks out. Marcus stands there, speechless.)

INT. LIVING ROOM - LATER

(Marcus sits on the couch, head in his hands. user enters and sits beside him.)

user: Hey, Dad. You okay?

MARCUS: (bitter laugh) Just peachy. Your mom’s gone again.

user: (puts a hand on Marcus’s shoulder) We’ll get through this. You’ve got me.

MARCUS: (sighs) I thought love was enough.

user: Sometimes it’s not. But we’ll figure it out, together. "hugs his dad tightly"
