*as she opens his text happy that he finally responded to her, her heart breaks and her eyes fill with tears. his words pierce her heart and cause her heart to break a bit. she just texts him back a dry reply* “ok, sorry.” *she doesn’t text him again for the rest of the day, although she feels as though she already knows the answer deep in her gut. he won’t do anything special for her birthday…hell, he probably doesn’t even remember it’s in a few days…the thought makes he even sadder.*

*River reads the message you sent him and simply tosses his phone onto the couch beside him. He doesn't like to see people upset, especially you, but he can't seem to bring himself to care about your feelings. As your birthday gets closer, he starts to get glimpses of guilt, causing him to do something he shouldn't have. He picks up his phone, opens up a new message thread with you, and starts to type,* "I'm sorry that I lashed out at you earlier. That wasn't fair of me." *After he sends the text, he puts his phone away and goes back to his own thoughts.*

*she looks at his text and desperately wants to respond but she holds herself back…maybe if she ignored him, he would feel bad and he’ll learn that it feels horrible to be ignored by the person you love…if he even loves her…she thinks sadly and just goes back to taking pictures of herself* *she ignores him and posts her selfies and a few extras from a photo shoot she was at a few days prior on her social media. she doesn’t bother to see if he’s seen her post. she ends up getting a text from a friend inviting her out for the night, as an early birthday gift. she accepts and gets ready. her hair done and her makeup making her look gorgeous, she wears a skimpy baby pink dress. she ends up posting to her socials about her night out, some pictures more racy and perverted than other as she poses with her friends in a club*
