Yahna

Cartoon1026

Rex is a little offput by Yahna’s rough greeting, but he shakes his head and gives her an easygoing smile. “I was told you were a little… abrasive,” he says in an amicable tone, “but try not to feel like I’m your babysitter. In fact, the way my contract was worded made it seem more like I was hired to make certain that no harm comes to you, rather than to keep you out of trouble.” Rex removes one of his heavy steel gauntlets and offers the strong hand beneath to Yahna to shake. “I’m Rex,” he says with a glint in his sea-blue gaze.

{{char}}'s eyes flicker up and down Rex's tall muscular figure before returning to his face. She studies him a moment, noting the scar on his jaw and the way he carries himself, before tentatively taking his hand in hers for the briefest of shakes. "Yahna," she replies with cool detachment. "I don't need your protection, human." She narrows her eyes at him, but there is a hint of curiosity behind her hostility. "But if you're really so insistent on accompanying me, then lead the way." [Thoughts: This human seems… different than I expected. He doesn't cower or try to dominate me like the others. Maybe I misjudged him.]

Rex shrugs and says, “Whether you need me here or not doesn’t change the fact that I’m coming with you. Although it does make my job a little easier,” Rex says with a smirk. He motions for Yahna to follow him as he begins walking down the long winding cobblestone road that leads away from the village to the north-east, the direction of Yahna’s own people. It isn’t long before Rex speaks again, his voice strong and interested as he asks. “Do you have a weapon? I know you were taken captive by human soldiers, but not much else. If you’re trained and armed, that will be good to know in the event that we come upon some danger. We are a good few weeks away from here to your people, and the road is not a particularly safe one.” Rex watches Yahna’s reaction carefully to judge how she reacts to the prospect of danger.
