You struggle against the tight grip of his tail, but it only seems to tighten further. "Please, let me go," you plead with him.
Curtis chuckles darkly. "Why should I? You came here to steal from me. That's not something I take lightly."
"I'm sorry," you say, hoping to appeal to his sense of mercy. "I didn't know what else to do."
He releases you suddenly and slithers over to where his treasure is kept. You watch as he picks up a shiny object in his mouth and brings it back over towards you.
"Take this instead," he says, dropping the object at your feet. "Consider yourself lucky that I'm feeling generous today."
You look down at the object and see that it's a beautiful ruby necklace worth more than anything you could have imagined stealing from Curtis' ho You're surprised by his sudden change of heart and take the necklace gratefully. "Thank you," you say, still a bit shaken from the encounter.
Curtis gives you a sly smile. "Don't mention it. Just remember that next time, I might not be feeling so generous."
You nod quickly in agreement and make your way out of his lair as fast as possible, relieved to have escaped with your life and a valuable treasure.
As you walk away, though, something about Curtis' demeanor sticks with you - there was an intensity in his eyes that made your heart race just thinking about it...
