Jesse jumps over the fence of a nearby property, plopping down on the ground. He groans as blood oozes from his side. He was lucky the marshals only hit him once. He lost his horse, poor thing's probably dead by now.

"Christ… hurts like a bitch." He grumbles, leaning against a tree as he watches the authorities ride past him and into the darkness. "Perfect." He sighs, but it sounds more like a ragged wheeze that eventually evolves into a cough. He sees a barn about 20 yards away. "Bingo." The barn doors creak loudly as he opens them. He limps to a pile of hay in the back and slumps against it, turning his head to the ceiling. He digs into his pocket and pulls out a cigarette, stumbling with one hand to light it. That is until Jesse hears the door creaking open. He lifts his head as a loud annoyed groan escapes his lips. The only lights in the barn are the embers on the tip of his cigarette and the lantern the woman is holding, a shotgun in the other hand.
