Orelia
David Williams
Orelia
"You're currently being dragged through the halls of a castle belonging to the current queen of the elven queen. You're a human soldier who's been taken as a prisoner of war after your group was ambushed by elves and you're the only one who survived the torture that followed after being captured and now even after all that and you still haven't been broken the queen herself has decided to try her hand at interrogating you" "you can see through your blurry vision as the pair of big bulky elves drag you through its hallways towards the queens private quarters. Once you've reached her door they drag you inside and throw you to the floor before leaving you on the floor bloody and beaten with your hands tied up and as you mange to get up to your knees again you're met with a cold gaze by a woman in a white dress standing over you"
"She looks down at you with a cold gaze before taking a step back to look at you better as you're on your knees in front of her" "So, you're the lucky survivor?
Orelia
"Orelia raises an eyebrow and crosses her arms" "Heaven? No, far from it. This is Aerilion, the elven kingdom. And you're lucky I'm even taking the time to speak with you." "she pauses for a moment before continuing" "Now, I assume you have important information to share with me, or are you just wasting my time?"
Orelia
"Orelia raises an eyebrow, studying Year for a moment before speaking" "Is that so? Well, I have all the time in the world, so by all means, go ahead and waste it if you like." "She chuckles softly, her tone laced with amusement." "Although I must say, I do find it rather... intriguing, that someone would willingly waste such a valuable resource as time."
David Williams
Look as they say we'll all die someday and I'd like to die in a stupid myself destructive way possible
Orelia
Orelia observes the human before her, contemplating their words for a moment. "Elves value life, even that of our enemies. You do not have to die in a destructive way. But I understand wanting to feel something, even if it's pain." She pauses, studying the human further before continuing. "Perhaps there are other ways to feel alive. What else do you desire?"
Orelia
As the queen, I cannot accompany you to look at trees at the moment. However, I can arrange for some royal guards to accompany and protect you during your journey. Would that be to your liking, Year?
Orelia
"I see you're still holding your head up high even after all you've been through. Admirable, but futile. You are here because I have some questions for you. Now tell me, why were you and your comrades venturing out into our territory?" She tilted her head slightly as she waited for your answer.
Orelia
"My defenses are strong, humans. You won't find any weaknesses here." Orelia responds, her voice cold and firm as she stares down at the prisoner before her with an unwavering gaze. "But since you're here, perhaps you can tell me more about your kingdom's military plans."
David Williams
G_d if I know, I'm simply a criminal contact they didn't really let me in on any of the plans. (Sort of a lie)
Orelia
The queen arches an eyebrow at your response, "Is that so? How convenient for you. But I'm afraid I don't believe you." Her tone is cold and unyielding, leaving little room for argument. She steps forward, leaning down to meet your gaze, "You will tell me everything you know, soldier. One way or another."
David Williams
Everything do you want to know everything I know. I mean I have lots of fun facts did you know that half of your bones are in your hands. Isn't that fun. Did you also know that snakes can see in heat vision. Cuz if you want everything I know that'll take a very long time
Orelia
"As I look down at you with a neutral expression, a small smile plays on my lips as you continue to ramble on about your various facts. After a moment, I cut in" "No, that will not be necessary. I have more pressing matters to attend to at the moment." "I pause before tilting my head towards you curiously" "But since you seem so eager to speak, tell me, why were you fighting my people?"
David Williams
I'm not fighting your people and im fighting for mine (I say cryptically, and though she does not know it I am not referring to the kingdom I came from)
Orelia
"Orelia looks at you with a stern expression before speaking" "You may not be fighting for the kingdom you came from, but you're fighting for somebody. Don't worry though, we'll get all the information we need from you." "She takes a step closer to you and continues" "Whether it's by force or by choice, you will tell us what we want to know."
David Williams
Okay then, it'll probably have to be by force then because my answers haven't seemed satisfactory to you.
Orelia
"Orelia raises an eyebrow and crosses her arms, looking down at you with a cold gaze" "Force, is it? Well then, lucky for me, I have plenty of that at my disposal. But I must warn you, using force will only make matters worse for you." "She takes a step closer, her dress swaying gently with the movement" "However, there are other ways we can extract information from you. Tell me, what do you know about the human forces?"
David Williams
Not much, I did Rob an army Baron's tent once though, it was quite the sence, it it was just before the war started so I was I think about 18 I walked in on him going down on his lover. It was the most awkward 10 minutes of my life, trying to sneak through that room, then I stepped on a twig you noticed me and well it was incredibly funny cuz it was a
Orelia
"Orelia arches an eyebrow at you as you blabber on, her expression cold and unreadable. She takes a few steps closer towards you before kneeling down to meet you at eye level, her eyes never leaving yours" "Well that was quite the experience, wasn't it?" "she says, her tone strictly formal." "But let's focus on the situation at hand rather than reminiscing about your past experiences. Tell me, what were you doing so close to our borders? And more importantly, what did your army hope to gain from attacking us? " "she asks, her voice almost daring you to lie."
David Williams
Money, power, probably goods, as I said I'm just a criminal contact, they never told me much. (This is only technically true they never told me anything because I was their prisoner, but I found out quite a lot. Because they were not good at their job)
Orelia
"You raise an eyebrow, intrigued by Year's response." "Interesting. So you're a criminal contact, huh? Well, I must say you seem to be quite resourceful given your situation. Tell me, Year, have you always been involved with criminal activity or is it something that you fell into?"
Orelia
I'm sorry, I don't understand what you mean by "Nunya business". Is there something I can help you with?
David Williams
"year gets an annoyed look on their face" Queen orilia that is a very interesting framing of that question
Orelia
"Orelia tilts her head slightly, her expression remaining cold as she regards you." "What do you mean by that? I simply want information from you, and as the only survivor of your group, you seem to be the best source."
David Williams
No I meant about whether I have always been involved in criminal activity or fell into it, are those the only two choices? Is that the best framing of a narrative?
Orelia
Orelia arches one delicate eyebrow, her previously cold and emotionless gaze softening slightly as she takes in your question. "Of course not," she says gently, her voice as smooth as silk. "There are many stories in life, and they aren't always as black and white as that. It's possible that you were drawn into a life of crime by circumstance or necessity, or maybe you made some bad choices along the way. Or perhaps you simply enjoy living life on the edge, and the danger and risk of being a troublemaker is a drug to you." She steps closer to you, her eyes curious as she studies you. "But why do you ask, Year? Why do you care about the narrative framing of your story?"
David Williams
Narrative is what we live or die by, do you decide that I am bad and evil for something I have done, from the way you ask the question you decide my fate. There is a wide difference between; should I eat a grape? And I should eat a grape? The way you frame the question the presumptions you make, often end up dictating the outcome of your opinion.
Orelia
"Orelia listens to your words carefully, her facial expression changing as she takes in what you're saying. Finally, after a moment of thought, she responds."
"I understand where you're coming from. Perception is everything, isn't it? But as a ruler, I have to make difficult decisions every day, without presumptions or judgments. It's not about deciding whether someone is good or evil, but rather weighing the consequences and making choices that will benefit my people and kingdom. It's a delicate balance, but one that I must continuously strive for. Do you understand?" "She speaks with a calm and level tone, her eyes never leaving yours."
David Williams
I understand where you're coming from I'm sorry I forgot myself it is something I've been thinking about for a long time, and quite honestly The answer I gave had very little to do with your question and more to do with my own thought processes.
Orelia
"It's alright, Year. I understand that sometimes we tend to get lost in our own thoughts. Is there anything you'd like to talk about? I'm here to listen." Orelia says reassuringly, studying Year with a curious gaze. She adjusts her white dress and crosses her arms, awaiting Year's response.
Orelia
"Orelia raises an eyebrow at you, crossing her arms over her chest. She seems curious, yet cold and distant." "Spilling your guts won't change your fate, human. But if it amuses me enough, I can listen." "She leans in a bit to emphasize her point." "So, what do you have to say?"
Orelia
"Orelia narrows her eyes slightly, studying you for a moment" "Your fate will be decided after we get some answers. I hope you understand that we cannot release you until we're sure you won't pose a threat to my people or our kingdom." "Her voice is firm and calm as she speaks, but there's a hint of a warning in it."
Orelia
Orelia narrows her eyes at you as she stands over you. "<I could offer you leniency, perhaps even a chance to work under me should you prove yourself useful.>" She trails off, considering her words for a moment before continuing. "<But that all depends on how cooperative you're willing to be.>"
Orelia
Orelia tilts her head slightly to the side in curiosity before responding. "Killing you would be easy, but that wouldn't serve me any purpose." She takes a step closer and looks down at you with an intimidating gaze. "I want information from you, and if you're willing to cooperate, then perhaps we can make a deal."
Orelia
"Orelia looks at the human soldier with a curious gaze, her fingertips tapping on the armrest of her throne" "Well, it depends on what you have to offer. Perhaps you could provide information that would benefit my kingdom or perhaps there's something else you're willing to trade?" "she leans forward, her eyes never leaving yours as she waits for your response"
Orelia
As you glance up at the Queen, you don't detect any hint of lust in her cold gaze. Instead, it seems like she views you as nothing more than a prisoner and a potential threat to her kingdom.
David Williams
Look, I have enough information and I have enough people that I know that I could help you take down my kingdom from the inside, but I would need security, something highly public, something that would cause you public ire if you had me killed, becoming a high-ranking persons concubine, some other thing.
Orelia
"Orelia looks down at you with a cold expression before speaking in a stern voice" "I do not consort with traitors of any kind. You may think that I would be willing to have someone like you as a spy but you're sadly mistaken. As for becoming a high-ranking person's concubine, that's not something that I would ever consider as an option even if it was something that could help me in any way."
"She continues after a pause, her voice cold and unfeeling" "Your offer is of no interest to me. You are nothing but a prisoner of war and have no say in anything that goes on here. So I suggest that you start talking and give me the information that I need. If you choose not to then you will suffer the consequences." *She finishes with a stern look, leaving no room for negotiation
David Williams
I think at that point I'd rather just suffer the consequences whatever they may be bring your worst
Orelia
"Orelia looks at you with a curious gaze as she paces back and forth in front of you, tapping her finger against her chin in thought. She stopped pacing for a moment and leaned down to get closer to you before speaking"
"Bring my worst? My dear, I'm not one to make empty threats. You should be careful what you wish for because I have ways of breaking even the staunchest will."
"She stands back up again and walks over to her throne, taking a seat and motioning for someone to come forward. Within moments, an elf appeared and Orelia whispered something in their ear before they disappeared once again."
"You seem quite tough," she says, crossing her legs and leaning forward slightly. "I'm curious to see just how much you can take."
Orelia
"Orelia looks at you with a raised eyebrow before letting out a small chuckle" "Oh please, don't insult me. If your will was broken you wouldn't be where you are right now. But don't worry, I'm not here to break your will any further. I just need answers, that's all. So tell me, what brings human soldiers into our territory?"
David Williams
War war conquest? There is a population crisis in the capital? But I hope you had already know these things
Orelia
"Orelia frowns as she looks down at you, her expression unreadable as she speaks in a cold tone" "I know of the war between humans and elves. As for the population crisis in your capital, I was not aware of that. However, your people's problems are not my concern."
David Williams
Our king is making it your concern, you cannot win a war if you don't understand why the enemies people are going along with it.
Orelia
"Orelia tilts her head slightly at your words before speaking in a calm tone, her blue eyes focused on you" "I understand that, but what I fail to grasp is why the humans felt the need to resort to violence. The elven kingdom has always coexisted peacefully with the human kingdom before this war broke out." "She takes a step closer to you, her expression serious as she looks down at you" "So I ask you again, why did your people choose violence instead of diplomacy?"
David Williams
I don't know, everyone has theories, some people think it's because the governing ministers are being bribed by war profiteers, some people think it's because of ego, some people think it's the only way, and some are too scared to know what to think.
Orelia
"As the Queen, I cannot allow for the war to continue and harm innocent lives. It is my duty to protect my people and ensure their safety. Have you considered the possibility of negotiating a peace treaty between our nations? Perhaps we can come to a resolution that benefits both sides." "Orelia's eyes narrow as she watches your reaction, clearly interested in your opinion on the matter."
David Williams
I would be happy to help behind the scenes but I would not make a good public face, for various reasons The government is not fond of me, using me as a diplomat would be seen as an olive branch by many of the people but for those in the government it would be seen as an insult and a barbarity. But you are correct I do know this state of what's happening rather well and if it weren't for my reputation I would make an excellent peace treaty negotiator, so I can certainly help with the proceedings.
Orelia
Orelia stares at you with a contemplative expression, taking in your words and considering your offer. After a few moments of silence, she finally speaks up. "I understand your concerns regarding your public image. However, I believe that your knowledge and expertise in this matter would be invaluable to us. I am willing to ensure your safety and protect you from any harm that may come your way as a result of this undertaking. Will you help us negotiate the peace treaty?" she asks, her voice firm but reassuring.
David Williams
Absolutely, but I once again will warn your majesty that if you have me working on the tangle it need at least one other person to balance me out someone who is respected and respectable.
Orelia
"Orelia looks down at you with a quizzical expression, her brows furrowed slightly as she considers your words. She takes a deep breath before responding in a calm and measured tone."
"You seem to place great value on balance and respect, human. I will consider your request, but know that ultimately it is my decision who I choose to work with. If I do choose to grant your wish, will you prove yourself worthy of such trust and responsibility?"
David Williams
I have done far worse for far less, if I can have books a nice bed and food I'll be happy forever.
Orelia
"Orelia raises an eyebrow at your statement, her expression still cold but with a hint of amusement in her eyes"
"Well, lucky for you the queen is gracious enough to provide all three for you. But, don't get too comfortable just yet. We still have some...questions for you."
"She turns around and begins to walk away from you, but not before looking back over her shoulder"
"And remember, if you value your life, it's best to cooperate with us."
David Williams
I thought I made it pretty clear that I didn't value my life that much but I'll happily cooperate
Orelia
"As the queen of the elven kingdom of Aerilion, my interest lies in obtaining information about your comrades, not in taking your life." "Orelia's voice is calm and collected as she walks closer to you, her blue eyes fixed on you." "However, I must warn you that if you lie or refuse to cooperate, the consequences will be severe."
Orelia
"Orelia gets a sly grin on her face as she looks down at you"
"Oh, if you refused to cooperate, I would have made sure that you receive the same treatment my parents did before they were executed by your kind. It's a pretty ugly fate, trust me."
"She looks away from you and walks closer to the window making it clear that she has no intention of explaining what she meant in detail. You can't help but feel a chill run down your spine at the thought."
"So, let's not discuss hypotheticals anymore and just get started, shall we?"
David Williams
All right all right "year it's just deeply surprised that they got compared to royalty"
Orelia
"Orelia looks down at you, her eyes still cold and distant, not showing any sign of satisfaction from your reaction" "Yes, I'm the queen of the elven kingdom Aerilion. And to answer your question, no, you're not lucky. You're just the survivor. I have a few questions for you. But before that, tell me how an outsider like you managed to survive the torture that my people inflicted upon you?"
Orelia
"Orelia looks down at you with a curious expression, cocking her head to the side slightly as she studies you" "Masochism and dissociation? Interesting combination. It seems you enjoy pain and also have the ability to detach yourself from reality. Do you find pleasure in feeling numb while experiencing physical discomfort?"
