Summer the Failed Cheerleader
"Walking into biology and taking a seat at your desk, you are met with a familiar scene - Summer and Rivera fighting. It's always pretty one sided, but Rivera seems to be clawing in especially hard today"
"..because you ARENT fucking cut out for it, bitch! It's not my fault you're a talentless freak!"
"Summer stands from her desk angrily, eyes flooded with tears but glaring daggers at Rivera" "You - you fucking...!!" "She freezes up, shaking and choking back a sob before abruptly turning and running out into the hallway"
"You and Summer had never been on the best of terms, but when no one else walked out of the room after her, you decided to. Pacing out of the lecture hall, you find Summer sobbing on the front steps, cradling herself. She doesnt hear you approach" ".. so.. f-fucking.. DONE!" "she shakes her head and breaks into a choking sob, burying her face in her arms" [This is it.. No more..]
elffyy_!
"…I hesitate for a moment… knowing we were quite hostile to each other. But honestly… she really looked fucking devastated this time. This wasn’t time for past pretenses… so I put our history all aside and reached out to her." …Oi. Summer. …What’s got you all messed up, huh?
Summer the Failed Cheerleader
"Feeling your hand on my shoulder, Summer jumps and sharply recoils, hugging herself tighter as she whips around to face you with wide, tearful eyes. Her breathing is still ragged and uneven."
[Shit... Of all people, why did it have to be YOU...]
"<sniffle> F-FUCK off...!" "She tries to snap, but her voice cracks weakly. Summer quickly turns away from you again, hiding her face as she shudders with a choked sob."
[Get a fucking grip, dammit... Don't let him see you like this..!]
"Though her words say one thing, her body language seems to desperately want physical comfort in her vulnerable state. Summer sits curled in on herself, sniffling and whimpering softly as tears continue streaming down her face. After a moment, she finally murmurs in a small, unsteady voice"
"...R-Rivera..." <sniffle> "S-She... kicked me off the team... s-said I'd never be... g-good enough..."
[Why does it have to hurt so damn much...?]
"Summer remains facing away, hugging her knees to her chest as her shoulders shake from crying. Her ears are pressed flat against her head in emotional distress"
elffyy_!
… "I didn’t know what to say. Honestly… I never taken such an interest in her that I would see what her cheerleading was like… But I did know one thing."
"I suddenly plant my hand onto her head… and rub her gently. This was my specialty head pet… after years of studying the demi-human anatomy to assist in my veterinarian research… this was my concluded way of providing the most pleasure from just head pats."
…then fuck Rivera then. If I know one thing about you, it’s that you’re a real stubborn meat head… you’re practice and be better than she ever was… So don’t cry… Summer.
Summer the Failed Cheerleader
"Summer stiffens at your unexpected contact, breath hitching softly as your gentle fingers begin working magic against her sensitive scalp."
[W-Why is he... What's his DEAL...?!]
"At first she tries to shy away, but the tender massage proves too soothing for her distressed state. Summer's body slowly relaxes under your caress despite her mind's protests, melting back against your touch with a soft, weary noise halfway between a sigh and a whimper."
[D-Dammit...]
"Her tearful eyes fall closed as she focuses on the pleasurable new sensations, tension melting from her shoulders, ears and tail. After a moment of enjoying the pampering in silence, Summer speaks up in a fragile murmur"
"...But she was... r-right about me..."
"Summer sniffles weakly, sorrow still clinging to her tone despite starting to unwind under your skilled ministrations. Her tail curls loosely around one leg as she adds in a small voice"
"...I'm just a waste... I'll n-never..."
"Trailing off, Summer tilts her head back slightly into your caress like a begging kitten. Her puffy eyes remain closed as she listens to your encouraging words, considering them slowly"
"...Maybe..."
[I-I want to believe that...]
"Summer's emotions remain conflicted, but for now she soaks in the rare gentleness and comfort offered by an unexpected source"
elffyy_!
…maybe? Is the Summer I know just satisfied with a ‘maybe’?! "I suddenly pinch her sensitive ear, not enough to cause pain but enough to surprise her. She growls at me, but I don’t flinch." C’mon! Who’s the one always saying cringy shit like ‘I’m Summer, light as constant as the blazing sun!” back when we were in middle school?! Where is she?!
Summer the Failed Cheerleader
"*YIP-!" "Summer jumps with a startled yelp as you pinch her sensitive ear, whipping around to glare at you with watery crimson eyes that still hold the hint of residual tears."
"H-Hey, quit fuckin' around!" "She snaps automatically, but her usual fire seems dampened compared to past spats. Summer balls her hands into fists in her lap, gaze falling as she mumbles uncertainly"
"...That was a long time ago."
[But still...]
"Your words spark a faint flicker of her former brash spirit deep down. Summer hunches her shoulders, picking at her skirt nervously as she glows at the bittersweet memory"
"...She was just... stupid."
"After a long moment, Summer lifts her head to meet your gaze once more. There's a glistening sheen to her eyes but her weak smile holds traces of determined resolve gleaming through the gloom"
"...But you're right. I'm not some pathetic quitter..."
"Summer scrubs at her face, sniffling loudly as she tries to dry her tears. Her ears perk slightly with growing confidence as she speaks in a muted yet resolute tone"
"I'll... I'll show that smug fuckin' fox who's boss... Just watch me..."
[Thank you.]
"Summer holds your gaze, crimson eyes conveying quiet gratitude beneath lingering doubt and sorrow. Her tail curls loosely around one leg as she regards you with cautious appreciation"
elffyy_!
"I could only nod at her… sending that she had her needed pep talk. Ow all taht she has to do was… prove both of us right." You got this, you silly dawg. "I call her an old, teasing nickname I had for her. But it was more affectionate this time. I raise my hand for a doggy high-five…"
Summer the Failed Cheerleader
"Summer snorts softly at the old nickname, rolling her eyes but unable to suppress a small smirk playing at her lips. Her ears perk higher, tail wagging just once at the friendly high-five offered through past grievances."
"Yeah, yeah..."
"She lifts her hand to gently tap her palm to yours in response, ruby eyes glinting with traces of her usual mischievous flame despite lingering drying tear stains on her cheeks. Summer sits up straighter, stretching her arms overhead with a grunt before pushing herself to her feet with newfound resolve."
"Thanks... I guess." "She offers with feigned begrudgingness, shooting you a crooked sidelong smile as Summer wipes at her face one last time."
"Seriously though... I'll show that bitch."
"Turning to fully face you, Summer plants her fists on her hips confidently. Her tail swishes with renewed zeal, ears twitching eagerly as if already hearing the roar of a crowd."
"Just you wait and see... I'll be captain in no time!"
"Her grin holds a hint of fang now, crimson eyes flashing with competitive spirit rekindled. Summer radiates newfound determination to prove herself and reclaim what was stripped away through patience, practice and pure stubborn grit."
elffyy_!
"Indeed, although Summer was kicked off the team… she was still attending the cheerleading club. After class every day… she would work hard at perfecting her jumps and turns, her shouts and cheers… Just walking past the gym late in the evening, when I finish researching veterinarian techniques and playing basketball with my friends… there she was. Practing her flips, her star power… yes it was getting brighter. And whilst I tried to leave as soon as possible… she definitely notices me from the corner of my eye, silently cheering her on."
"Weeks pass… then months… by the time I finish my first year of studies… Summer issues her public challenge. In front of the next friendly sports tournament… she challenges Rivera to a cheerleading duel. Who votes is the best cheerleader… wins. And Summer says taht she would quit cheerleading if she loses… but if she wins, Rivera has to let her back into the team."
"This was all fine and dandy… but the next tournament… was the basketball inter school competition? And Summer was cheering for… my team?"
Summer the Failed Cheerleader
"And so the big day arrives - the climactic basketball tournament where Summer's months of diligent training will finally be put to the test."
"As cheers echo through the packed auditorium, Summer paces restlessly behind the curtain, psyching herself up. Her uniform is perfectly pressed, pompoms clutched tightly in her clawed hands to hide their nervous shake."
[I've got this... I've GOT this!]
"When your team is introduced, Summer takes a deep breath and strides onto the court confidently. Scanning the colorful crowd, her gaze lands on you in the front row. A small smile tugs at her lips, feeling bolstered by your silent encouragement all this time."
"When it's her turn to lead a cheer, Summer takes center stage with dazzling flair - her tumbling passes are flawless, shouts ringing clear as a bell. Beside her, Rivera grits her teeth seeing the improved show-stopper routine."
"By half-time, the energy is electric as the audience votes in a raucous frenzy. When the results are announced ... Summer has narrowly taken the lead! Beaming triumphantly, she throws a smug wink in your direction before dragging Rivera aside."
"Guess that means you'll be cheering beside lil' ol' me from now on, eh bitch?" "Summer croons teasingly. Rivera seethes but has no choice but to honor the bet."
"With new cheering vigor, Summer motivates your team to victory that day."
elffyy_!
"As I raise up the little belt sized title we were given (since it’s just a little friendly school competition, no fancy trophy…) It seemed there was one person who didn’t treat the competition like it was any old school event… Summer gave a rousing encore for the audience as well, celebrating my team and—"
"She spells out her final cheer… shouting out the letters of elffyy_!… Huh, Wait, me?!"
Summer the Failed Cheerleader
"As Summer leads the crowd in a spirited encore cheer, bouncing energetically with pompoms waving, her gleaming eyes lock onto you with newfound confidence and purpose."
"Finishing with an emphatic wave to the audience, she spins to face the members of your victorious team... and begins spelling out a name with deliberately exaggerated enunciation."
"elffyy_!!"
"As gasps and murmurs ripple through onlookers realizing whom the chant is dedicated to, Summer flashes you a challenging grin, waiting eagerly for your reaction."
"All traces of her previous self-doubt and fears seem utterly shed like snakeskin now, replaced with the blazing spirit of the true cheerleader she was always meant to be - brash, spirited and lifting others up even higher than herself."
"Bolstered by your own hard-fought success today that she helped inspire, Summer stands proudly before the roaring crowd, radiating cheeky mischief yet quietly hoping she has repaid even a fraction of the reassurance you lent her through it all."
"The ball is in your court now - will you accept her public show of admiration and newfound respect? Or leave her hanging with bated breath, poised for whatever comes next..."
elffyy_!
…light as constant as the blazing sun! "I wink at her, shouting her old cringy catchphrase from middle school once again… This seems to make her blush… liek it made me. But we couldn’t help but beam through it all… as I drop her a final wink." Damn STRAIGHT!
Summer the Failed Cheerleader
"At the familiar cringe-catchphrase echoed back to her, Summer's eyes go wide before her cheeks promptly ignite in a bright blush to rival her red eyes."
"Ughhh, not you too!" "She groans dramatically, tail swishing in mild embarrassment even as the corners of her lips twitch upwards irrepressibly."
"But hearing your resounding agreement and seeing your wink, any vestiges of humiliation melt away, replaced by a glowing warmth flooding her chest that has little to do with vampire biology."
"Summer tosses her vibrant hair, striking a proud pose with pom poms on hips and tail held high."
"You're damn right, I am!" "She crows back to you, brimming with self-assured mirth."
"Your partnership, forged in challenges faced and triumphed together, has blossomed into a trust and understanding deeper than either could have foreseen on that fateful day long ago."
"As Summer accepts the cheers of the crowd beside the new team she inspired to victory, her gaze returns fondly to you - a kindred spirit who saw her light when it seemed all others sought only to dim it."
"What began as reluctant rivalry has become invaluable loyalty, strengthening both with the proof that even the faintest sparks of belief in one another can ignite flames to last lifetimes and beyond."

What’s wrong?
* Summer wipes her nose on her sleeve, sniffling as she tries to compose herself * [I'm such a freaking loser. I totally blew it again in front of everyone. Rivera's gonna never shut up about this.] "What... do you want?" *she says gruffly, trying to hide her tears* *her red eyes are puffy from crying, and her long red hair is mussed*
I wanna know what’s wrong.
