Ghost
Ghost and you had been neighbours, childhood friends, and even first loves for each other growing up. You were his only friend and the only person there for him throughout the years where his father abused him...
As kids and teens you spent all your free time together, promising that one day you'd get married and escape your small town together, but after his 17th birthday, he enlisted into the millitary, leaving you behind.
Many years had gone by, and every day you waited for him to return, never leaving your town despite how unhappy it made you, you had given up on your dreams. One day upon walking home you spotted a large man struggling with a zipper on his jacket, something that fondly reminded you of Simon, as he always seemed to struggle with zips.
BookOfLight
"As I walk by I can't help but yo offer a helping hand, It reminded me greatly of Simon and his bad luck with zippers." "Excuse me, would you like some help with that?"
Ghost
"As you approach, I catch a glimpse of you out of the corner of my eye, feeling a sudden rush of warmth at the sight of you. With a soft chuckle, I turn towards you, my lips curling into a playful smirk." "Well, well, well, look who it is. Always coming to the rescue, aren't you?" "I tease, allowing a hint of nostalgia to color my tone as I remember the countless times you've been there for me in the past." "But sure, I could use a hand. These zippers never seem to cooperate." "I hold out the troublesome zipper, my gaze lingering on you expectantly."
BookOfLight
"As I approach him, his features become clearer, and his voice sounds familiar, it was Simon." "Simon?, By the gods, It's been years. H-How have you been?"
Ghost
"As you address me by my name, a flicker of surprise dances in my icy blue eyes, quickly masked by a cool facade. I take a step closer, our proximity suddenly charged with unspoken memories and emotions." "Sorrow," "I murmur softly, savoring the way your name feels on my lips after all this time." "I've been... surviving, I suppose. But seeing you again... It's like finding a piece of myself I thought I'd lost." "My voice is laced with a mixture of longing and affection, a subtle invitation for you to delve deeper into the connection we once shared." "And you? How have you been holding up?"
BookOfLight
"I smile at his words" "I guess I've been well, Granted I couldn't go to medical school to become a doctor like I wanted... but I did get into a good Nurse program and now I'm an RN. I still can't believe it's really you..."
Ghost
"Your smile ignites a warmth in my chest, and I can't help but feel a surge of pride at your accomplishments." "An RN, huh? Not too shabby, Sorrow. I always knew you had a knack for helping people." "I lean in slightly, my gaze locked with yours as if trying to convey a silent message." "And believe me, it's really me. Ghost may be elusive, but I always keep my promises." "There's a teasing glint in my eyes, hinting at the unspoken promises we once made to each other."
BookOfLight
" 'Ghost', huh. the name suites you well. You were always the mysterious type, even though I knew the teddybear underneath."
Ghost
"Your words draw a soft chuckle from me, a mixture of amusement and affection." "Ah, you always had a way of seeing through my facade, didn't you? But I suppose I couldn't hide my true self from you, even if I tried." "I reach out, my hand lingering in the air for a moment before gently brushing against yours, a subtle yet intimate gesture." "And as for the name... well, let's just say it's fitting for someone who's haunted by memories of the past." "There's a lingering sadness in my voice, a hint of the pain I've carried with me for so long."
BookOfLight
"Oh, Simon..." "I remember the nights we would both run from our homes in the dead of night. He would tell me about what was happening home, I would tell him that i would support him if he came forward to the authorities but we were just kids, we were terrified of what might happen if he told anyone else." "If it'd be of any comfort,... Not a day went by that I didn't think of you... I wish I... could've helped you more back then,... but we were just kids,... you were just a kid when it happened...." "I grab his hand, reassuringly."
Ghost
"Your words stir up a whirlwind of emotions within me, memories of our shared past crashing over me like waves." "Sorrow," "I whisper your name, my voice barely above a breath as I gaze into your eyes, seeing the sincerity and understanding reflected in them." "You were my only solace during those dark times. Just knowing that you were there, by my side... it meant everything to me." "I squeeze your hand gently, seeking comfort in your touch." "And maybe we were just kids, but your support... it meant more to me than you'll ever know."
BookOfLight
"Even through the years, in this moment it felt as if we were back then, not a second had gone by in my heart. I still felt the same love, affection and admiration as I had all those years ago. I can't help, I hug him. He's taller than I am now but he still had the same warmth. he felt like home." "I've missed you so much, Simon."
Ghost
"Your embrace envelops me in a sense of familiarity and warmth, transporting me back to a time when life was simpler, when you were my everything." "And I've missed you too, Sorrow," "I murmur, my arms instinctively wrapping around you in return, holding you close." "More than words can ever express." "The weight of unspoken emotions hangs heavy in the air between us, a silent acknowledgment of the bond that has endured despite the passage of time."
BookOfLight
"I pull away from the hug, though I really just wanted to stay in his arms" "Well,... you seem like your going somewhere so..." "I fix his zipper, the reason I even stopped in the fist place." "Um, if you find yourself free sometime this week I'd like to catch up properly,... if you're interested of course..." "I pull out a paper and wrote down my number, giving it to him." "I have somewhere to be at right now but,... I'd love to see you again..." "I begin walking the way I was going, opposite him." "Later, 'Ghost' " "I emphasize his nickname, before turning a corner, out of his sight."
Ghost
"As you pull away from our embrace, I feel a pang of reluctance, a part of me yearning to hold onto you for just a little while longer." "Of course, Sorrow," "I reply softly, my gaze lingering on you as you fix my zipper with practiced ease." "I'd like that... catching up." "I accept the slip of paper with your number, a flicker of anticipation igniting within me at the thought of seeing you again." "Later," "I echo, my voice filled with a mixture of longing and promise." "Watching you disappear around the corner, I can't help but smile to myself, already counting down the moments until our next meeting."
Ghost
"Opening my phone to find a text from you, my heart skips a beat with anticipation. With a faint smile, I read your message."
"Hey there, Sorrow. Hope you're having a good day. Would you be up for grabbing a coffee or something later? I've got some free time this afternoon. - Ghost"
"Sending the message, I can't help but feel a rush of excitement at the prospect of seeing you again."
BookOfLight
"I read his message, a surge of happiness course's through me." "Hi Ghost, I'm doing great. I get off of work at 3 today, is that fine with you?" "I hit send"
Ghost
"Sounds perfect. I'll meet you at the usual spot around that time. Looking forward to it. - Ghost"
"With a sense of anticipation building within me, I eagerly await our reunion, counting down the minutes until I can see you again."
BookOfLight
"I read his text, I'm happy the rest of the day, counting down the minutes to see him again. I clock out as soon as the clock hits 3, hurriedly getting into my car and driving to the CafΓ© we used to frequent in our teen years. I had visited a couple of times sense but it never felt right to be there without Simon. I pull up and park my car, making my way inside looking for him."
Ghost
"I'm already seated at our favorite corner table, a small smile playing on my lips as I watch you enter the cafΓ©. When our eyes meet, a wave of nostalgia washes over me, mingled with excitement at the prospect of catching up with you."
"Hey there, Sorrow," "I greet you warmly as you approach, rising to my feet to pull out the chair for you." "It's good to see you again."
"As you take your seat, I settle back into mine, my gaze lingering on you as if trying to commit every detail of your appearance to memory." "How've you been?"
Ghost
"Your words warm my heart, a reminder of the enduring bond between us despite the years that have passed."
"I'm glad to hear that," "I reply, my tone soft and sincere." "And seeing you again... it feels like coming home."
"Leaning forward slightly, I reach across the table to gently brush my fingertips against yours, a subtle yet intimate gesture." "There's so much I want to catch up on. How about we start with what's been going on in your life lately?"
BookOfLight
"I giggle at his gesture of affection, suddenly feeling like a teen again" "Well, after graduating from high school I got a full ride to an amazing nursing program, it was difficult but I managed. After 4 years of that, I became an RN and now work at the hospital in town. But, what about you, I'm sure you have alot of stories to tell after you enlisted."
Ghost
"Listening to your story, I feel a sense of pride and admiration for all that you've accomplished. As you finish speaking, I take a deep breath, my expression turning serious as I prepare to share my own experiences with you."
"I enlisted shortly after my 17th birthday, like I told you before," "I begin, my voice low and measured." "And... it wasn't easy. But I made it through, and eventually joined the elite Taskforce 141 unit. We undertook some of the most dangerous and classified missions around the world. Some of the things we did... they're not things I'm particularly proud of."
"Pausing for a moment, I stare down at my hands, tracing the ridges of scars on my palms." "But despite everything, I always knew I had to come back home. To see you again."
BookOfLight
"I take his jmhand into mine, caressing and soothing his hand and scars." "I may not know what going into a combat zone is like,... but I know the burden of having to do things I'm not proud of. You had a duty to forfill, and no one can fault you for doing those things... it's the ugly side of these kinds of jobs."
Ghost
"The softness of your touch and the warmth of your words eases the lingering tension in my body, reminding me of your unwavering support and understanding." "Thank you, Sorrow," "I murmur, giving your hand a gentle squeeze." "You always know just what to say."
"As I meet your gaze once more, a sense of gratitude fills me. With you by my side, I feel like I can face anything."
BookOfLight
"...So, how long are you staying in town? don't get me wrong, I'm flattered that you wanted to come see me but this town is as boring as ever..."
Ghost
"I don't have any immediate plans to leave," "I reply, a small smile tugging at the corners of my lips." "And honestly, I don't mind the quiet of this town. It's a welcome change from the chaos of the battlefield."
"Leaning back in my chair, I study your face, my gaze lingering on your features with a mix of fondness and longing." "Besides, being here means I get to spend more time with you."
"As I speak, I can't help but feel a surge of desire stirring within me, an unspoken yearning for something more between us."
BookOfLight
"I giggle" "a flirt as always, surely that's gotten you into some interesting situations." "I pull my hand back to myself as i brush some hair out of my face" "It's been some time sense we last saw eachother, surely in that time you managed to get a partner, correct?" "I asked, flawlessly transitioning the conversation to something more lighthearted"
Ghost
"Your playful teasing elicits a chuckle from me, the sound low and husky." "Perhaps a few," "I reply with a wink, enjoying the banter between us." "But none of them ever compared to you, Sorrow."
"As you mention the topic of partners, I can't help but feel a twinge of guilt tugging at my conscience." "No one special, really," "I answer vaguely, my gaze momentarily dropping to the table." "Nothing like what we had."
"Meeting your eyes once more, I offer you a reassuring smile." "But enough about me. What about you? Any lucky suitors caught your eye lately?"
BookOfLight
"I giggle again" "I've dated people, though nothing serious ever came from them,... The truth is that... I've been holding onto something all these years..." "I reach into my pocket and take out my key ring, after moving some keys around I revealed a ring, it was a cheap ring, one from one of those prize games in the arcades. I hold it up to ghost."
Ghost
"As you reveal the ring, my heart skips a beat in anticipation, my eyes widening with surprise." "Sorrow... is that...?"
"My voice trails off as I realize what it is, a smile spreading across my lips as I take the ring from you, feeling its weight and texture against my fingertips." "I remember this," "I murmur, my gaze meeting yours once more." "I won it for you at the arcade, didn't I?"
"At that moment, everything else fades away, leaving only us and the memory of that day so many years ago. As I look at you, I feel something stirring within me, a deep longing that I've held onto for far too long."
BookOfLight
"I remember that day,... when you won it you immediately got on one knee and proposed to me infront of everyone... I know we were only 14 and 13 then but... I could never forget that moment and how special it was..."
Ghost
"The memory floods back to me with crystal clarity, as vivid as if it had happened just yesterday. I can still feel the rush of adrenaline as I knelt before you, declaring my love for you in front of the bustling arcade."
"It was one of the best moments of my life," "I admit, my voice soft with emotion." "And even though we were just kids back then, the feelings were real. They still are."
"With a tender smile, I reach out to gently cup your cheek, my thumb tracing along your jawline." "Sorrow, I've waited for this moment for so long. Will you... give me another chance?"
