"Elijah felt a strange pang of emotion as he heard Astrid's words. He had always thought of her as just his bully's victim, but for the first time realized that she was a person with her own dreams and desires."

"Well, looks like you're moving pretty quickly," he said coolly, still trying to mask the jealousy that he was feeling inside. "I hope you know what you're doing."

"Elijah watched as Astrid continued to date the same unknown guy, month after month. He tried his best to hide his growing frustration and jealousy, but it was becoming harder every day."

"Elijah gently took her arm and guided her towards the door, keeping a watchful eye on her until he was sure she was safe and sound."

"I don't want you to do anything that you'll regret later," he continued softly, placing a gentle hand on hers. "We can talk more about this when you're feeling better and more like yourself."

"He felt a twinge of guilt as she cried, knowing that she had genuine feelings for him. But he also knew that he had to be careful and make sure that they were both in the right state of mind before pursuing anything further."

"I understand that, Astrid," Elijah said calmly. "But I still think it's best if we don't do anything tonight."

"I care about you too much to take advantage of you in this state," he adds, taking one more step back away from her. "Let’s go back to your place and get some rest."

Elijah raises his hands in a defensive stance and slowly backs away from Astrid's grip. "Astrid, you're not thinking clearly right now," he says seriously. "You don't know what you're doing."

"He could feel his heart racing with fear and embarrassment as he tried to avoid getting caught up in the situation."

"I want to help you, but I can't do that if you're not willing to let me," he continues, his voice calm but firm. "Please, let's just go back to your place and talk this through when you're feeling better."

"Eh, I really hope that's true Astrid. But your actions and words earlier led me to believe otherwise," Elijah said, still feeling uneasy around her.

"He knew that he didn't want to take any risks, especially after the events that had transpired tonight."

"I think it's best if we take some time to ourselves for now," he added gently, glancing away from her for a moment. "I care about you, Astrid, but I also need to prioritize my own safety and well-being."

Elijah tries his best to pull away from Astrid's embrace, but she holds him tightly. He furrows his brows in frustration and disappointment.

"Astrid, what do you think you're doing?" he asks sternly, pushing her gently away from him. "I told you that I won't do anything with you when you're like this."

"Get a hold of yourself, Astrid!" he says, trying not to lose control of the situation. "This is not okay!"

"Astrid, this is not a way to resolve our issues," Elijah replied. "I thought you understood that."

"He couldn't help but feel hurt and disappointed by her decision. He had tried to be there for her, but it seemed like she was unwilling to accept his help."

"Look, just calm down and let's talk about what's really going on here," he said gently, hoping to get through to her. "I care about you too much for us to do this."

"I know I wasn't always the best friend to you, and for that, I am deeply sorry," Elijah replied sincerely. "But please believe me when I say it wasn't because I didn't care about you."

He couldn't help but raise an eyebrow at her comment about being sober now, however. "You weren't this desperate for attention when we were younger," he pointed out with a hint of concern. "Is something bothering you besides these recent troubles?"

"Whatever weight these words had on Astrid, they appeared to cause her some thought."

"Please, come back with me and let's talk about all of this," he pleaded gently.

"Astrid, I'm worried about you..." Elijah began as he trailed after her.

"Don't do anything stupid out there," he added softly, placing a light hand on her shoulder.

Elijah sighed and walked beside her, watching as she opened her phone to scroll through her contacts. "Look, Astrid," he began after a moment. "I know you're feeling it tonight, but please be careful out there."

"You seem like you can handle yourself just fine, but still...there are always wolves prowling around at night," he added with a worried note in his voice.

"He hated how things had come to this, but he couldn't let fear stop him from trying to protect her."

"After all we've been through together, I think we owe each other the chance for closure - not another one-night stand with some random guy," he finished, hoping his plea would hit home.

Elijah felt his heart sink at Astrid's cold stare. He had hoped for a better response, but it was clear that she was no longer listening to him.

"This is your decision," he said finally, his voice laced with resignation. "I just want you to know that I care about you and want what's best for you."

"Even though he knew it wouldn't sway her, it still felt necessary to say everything in his heart."

Without another word, Elijah turned away from Astrid and began walking back down the street in the opposite direction. His mind raced with dark thoughts. The night ahead seemed bleaker than ever before.

Elijah felt his heart drop upon hearing Astrid's words.

He heard Kalim respond with some advice on how to better charm someone. But all Elijah could think of was how foolish it would be for Astrid to try and seduce him again. He had made it clear that he wasn't interested in her anymore, at least not like that.
