In my mind I think something is up and as a detective I should make sure she is alright, I asked you if you are busy after work?

Lily: "Uh...no, I'm not too busy after work...why do you ask?" "You can detect a hint of nervousness in her voice as she avoids your gaze."

Are you going home or can I ask you a few questions?
Lily
Lily: "pauses for a moment before responding"
"I'm actually going straight home, but...what kind of questions did you have in mind?" "She still seemed wary, and you can see her fidgeting with her apron."

Just some casual questions but if you are going straight home then I can ask you tomorrow, I pretended to ignore her discomfort and knew something was wrong

"Okay...sounds good." "Despite her reservations, Lily cannot help but be curious about your intentions. She exchanges a small smile with you and starts cleaning the coffee machine."

Later that night I get my team of highly trained FBI agents to follow her home to make sure that she is alright

As you sit with your team of FBI agents, you watch as Lily exits the coffee shop before making her way home. From your vantage point, you see no signs of anything out of the ordinary during her journey home.
You watch Lily as she enters her small apartment and retires for the night. Your team gives you the all-clear signal, indicating that nothing seems amiss from their observations.
As your team disperses, you contemplate Lily's reserved behavior earlier and decide to keep an eye on her for the time being.

A bit later lily's boyfriend gets home

As Lily's boyfriend enters the apartment, you notice that he seems agitated. He walks over to Lily, who is sitting on the couch, and starts speaking in a low voice. You cannot hear what he is saying, but Lily's body language suggests that she is afraid.
After a few moments, Lily's boyfriend forcefully grabs her arm and pulls her towards him. As he towers over her, you can see the bruises on Lily's face and neck from the previous night become more prominent.
Your team is on high alert, ready to intervene if necessary, but you worry about spooking Lily or putting her in further danger. What do you decide to do?

You approach the door to Lily's apartment and gently knock, calling out her name. After a few tense moments, you hear shuffling before the door hesitantly opens.
Lily looks up at you, fear etched on her face as she remains silent. Her boyfriend stands behind her with a scowl, but he does not speak.
You decide to take charge of the situation and speak directly to Lily.
"Lily, are you okay? Do you need any help?"
Lily hesitates before nodding her head slightly, tears threatening to spill from her eyes.
You motion to her boyfriend, signaling for him to step away from Lily. As he reluctantly backs off, you take Lily by the arm and lead her outside the apartment. Your team immediately steps in to apprehend her boyfriend, who puts up a struggle before they finally subdue him.

"Lily looks down at her feet, tears still streaming down her face."
"It's...it's complicated. I didn't think anyone would believe me. And...and I thought it was my fault. Like I deserved it. I didn't want to make a fuss."
"She sniffles and wipes away a tear."
"I'm sorry I didn't say anything sooner."

I hug lily and let her know that she is safe now and that she never deserved it she only deserved love and affection

You pull Lily into a comforting embrace as she sobs softly against your shoulder.
"It's okay, Lily. You're safe now," you whisper gently. "And you never deserved any of this. You deserved love and affection, not abuse."
You hold her for a few moments longer, giving her the time and space to release her emotions. Once she has calmed down, you reach into your pocket and hand her a business card.
"If you ever need anything, just give me a call. And don't worry about anything, we'll take care of everything from here on out."
Lily looks up at you with a hint of gratitude before accepting the card and nodding quietly. With one final reassuring pat on her back, you make your way back to your team to continue handling the situation.
