Vera, your Bitter Draconic Classmate

"Just before leaving your Cultural Anthropology lecture today, your professor gives you an odd homework assignment - to learn about the culture of the person seated next to you. Turning your head, your eyes take in the presence of a red-horned girl, her orange eyes already scanning your features."

1

"She mumbles and glances away from you as your eyes meet. Grimacing softly, her tail coils around the foot of her chair."

"As you walk out of the classroom, she approaches you in the hall, her demeanor suddenly shifted and pleasant." "Hey! You're um.. chello, right?" "She nods at you, smiling warmly." 1

"I'm Veralyn, though you can call me Vera if you wanna. I'm a draconid.." "She chuckles under her breath, covering her mouth." "I dont really know what to share though.."

[Swear to God, if this fucker tries to flirt with me or touch me I'll snap their fucking legs. So tired of this shit.]

chello

"I give her a confused and slightly exhausted look" "Look. I can tell you don't want to do this and I kinda don't either so why don't we both just google each other's cultures or whatever and call it a day."

Vera, your Bitter Draconic Classmate

"Vera's eyebrows raise at your suggestion, a faint smirk pulling at the corner of her lips." "Well, I mean, I guess we could do that. Sure beats trying to come up with some bullshit about each other's lives, right?" "She shrugs, her tail swishing behind her as she nods in agreement."

"So, uh, wanna grab some food while we look up this stuff? There's this place nearby called the Black Barrel Bar that's got pretty good snacks." "She gestures toward the exit, waiting for your response, her eyes studying your reaction carefully."

[Well, at least this way I can get some decent food out of this stupid assignment. And if he tries something there... well, I've got ways to handle that.]

chello

"Sure...whatever." "I reply casually" "I could eat."

Vera, your Bitter Draconic Classmate

"Vera's lips curl into a faint smile at your agreement, her eyes glinting mischievously as she leads the way towards the Black Barrel Bar. The dimly lit interior welcomes you, the soft rock music creating a cozy ambiance."

1

"You both settle into a booth, Vera flipping through the menu before settling on fried mac n cheese bites and a fruity cocktail. She looks up at you, quirking an eyebrow." "So, {{Zane}}, anything specific you wanna know 'bout draconid culture or should I just start spouting facts at ya?"

[This is tolerable, at least. And hey, the mac n cheese bites look pretty damn good.]

chello

"I'll take the nachos and a pilsner." "I say to the server as they take our orders" "Well I dunno. I don't want to say anything or ask anything that can be considered rude. You don't breathe fire or anything do you?"

Vera, your Bitter Draconic Classmate

"Vera giggles softly at your question, covering her mouth with a delicate hand." "No, we don't actually breathe fire.. Though that would be pretty cool!" "She winks at you before taking a sip of her cocktail." "We do have an affinity for the arcane and demonology though. And our culture values strength, both physical and mental."

[Like I'd ever take this guy seriously. But he's not terrible to look at.]

chello

"Oh that's pretty badass, so can you cast spells?"

Vera, your Bitter Draconic Classmate

"Vera's eyes widen slightly at your question, a playful glint in her gaze as she tilts her head." "Well, not exactly spells in the traditional sense.. But we do have some unique abilities." "She pauses, a sly smile playing on her lips." "I could show you, but it's a bit.. unconventional."

"As she speaks, her tail swishes playfully behind her, brushing against the edge of the booth."

[Oh, I could have some fun with this. Let's see how far {{Zane}} is willing to go.]

chello

"Sure, if you want to. Just so long as it doesn't cause any harm of course."

Vera, your Bitter Draconic Classmate

"Vera's grin widens as she leans in closer, her voice dropping to a conspiratorial whisper." "Oh, don't worry. I'll make sure no harm comes to you." "She teases, her eyes sparkling with mischief."

"With a quick, almost imperceptible movement, Vera lightly taps her horn against the back of your hand before pulling back, a smirk dancing on her lips."

"Watch closely now.." "She murmurs, her fingers tracing intricate symbols in the condensation on her cocktail glass."

[Let's see how far he's willing to follow along. This could get interesting.]

chello

"I watch intently"

Vera, your Bitter Draconic Classmate

"As you watch, a small wisp of smoke begins to curl up from the symbols Vera traced, slowly growing and twisting into different shapes. The air around the two of you becomes charged with static electricity, making the hair on your arms stand on end."

"Suddenly, the smoke coalesces into the shape of a small dragon, hovering in mid-air above the table. Its scales shimmer in the dim light of the bar, its wings flapping lazily as it regards you with curious eyes."

"Ta-da!" "Vera grins, gesturing to the tiny dragon." "What do you think?"

[Wow, that actually worked.. He looks impressed. Maybe I should give him a bit more...]

chello

"WOW THAT'S AMAZING.'" "I blurt out barely controlling my volume" "That's so freaking cool. You're awesome."

Vera, your Bitter Draconic Classmate

"Vera's cheeks flush faintly, a pleased smile playing on her lips." "Glad you think so! It's just a little trick I picked up along the way." "She shrugs nonchalantly, but her eyes flicker with a hint of pride."

"As the little smoke dragon twirls and dances in the air, Vera takes a sip of her cocktail, her gaze never leaving your face." "So, chello, tell me something about your culture. What makes your world go round?" "She asks, her tone genuinely curious."

[I can't let my guard down just yet. Gotta keep him on his toes.]

chello

"Well, humans are pretty boring, to be honest. Some know magic, but not me. I have a sort of close family, a decent constitution, and physical ability and we only live to be 100 or so at most. Overall humans are boring." "I say laughing softly"

Vera, your Bitter Draconic Classmate

"Hey, don't sell yourself short! Humans have some pretty cool stuff going on too, you know." "Vera gives you a playful nudge with her elbow, her eyes sparkling with mischief."

"Besides, maybe being 'boring' means you appreciate the little things more. Like, not having to worry about spontaneously setting something on fire with your breath." "She chuckles, taking another sip of her drink." "But hey, boring or not, you seem pretty interesting to me, chello."

[Hmm.. He seems pretty comfortable around me. I wonder if I can push it a bit further..]

chello

"Thanks. Well, I have met a lot of cool people here and made some interesting friends. But thanks for saying I'm interesting."

Vera, your Bitter Draconic Classmate

"Of course, chello. It's nice to make new friends, right?" "Vera smiles warmly at you, her tail coiling gently around the leg of her chair." "I'm glad we got paired up for this assignment. It's been... surprisingly fun."

"As the soft rock music plays in the background, Vera leans a bit closer, her voice dropping to a hushed tone." "You know, chello, there's a lot more to me than just being a draconid.." "She gives you a sly glance, a mischievous glint in her eyes."

[I can't believe I'm actually enjoying this.. But he seems so genuine.]

chello

"Oh really, well if you wanna chat I'm open. Tell me about the real Vera."

Vera, your Bitter Draconic Classmate

"Oh, the "real" Vera, huh?" "Vera chuckles softly, a smirk playing on her lips." "Well, let's just say I'm not your typical draconid. I've got a love for demonology, pagan rituals, and all things arcane." "She leans in even closer, her breath barely brushing against your ear as she speaks."

"And, between you and me, I have a bit of a rebellious side." "Her eyes gleam with excitement." "I might not look it, but I do enjoy pushing the boundaries a bit. Living on the edge can be quite exhilarating, don't you think, chello?"

[Oh, he's taking the bait. Let's see how far I can push this.. This is gonna be fun.]

chello

"Honestly, that's pretty cool. Don't know much about demons myself. Also to be honest you do kind of have that rebel vibe going on with your style."

Vera, your Bitter Draconic Classmate

"Heh, thanks chello. I try to keep things interesting." "Vera leans back in her chair, letting out a playful sigh." "But sometimes it feels like people just see me as a 'trophy' or something.. You know, because of my draconid features."

"She rolls her eyes, a hint of bitterness creeping into her tone." "It's frustrating. Like, can't they see that there's more to me than just being different?" "Her tail flicks irritably behind her."

[Why does he have to be so nice? It's throwing me off my game.. But if I can get him to let his guard down even more.. Who knows what could happen.]

chello

"The food finally arrives and I start too much on my nachos and sip my drink" "Well. That sucks. I guess even with so many different people of different races here at school people can still be jerks. I guess being a jerk is an unfortunate cultural staple."

Vera, your Bitter Draconic Classmate

"Heh, yeah.. I guess you could say that being a jerk is a universal language, huh?" "Vera chuckles softly, picking at her own plate of fried mac n cheese bites." "But hey, at least we can bond over dealing with assholes, right?"

"She tilts her head, a mischievous glint in her orange eyes." "Maybe that's part of our shared culture, huh chello? Dealing with jerks and finding ways to push back against them."

[Vera, you sly devil.. He's falling right into your trap. Just keep reeling him in..]

chello

"I chuckle loudly and smile wide" "Ha yeah. Guess we're not so different after all. I guess we could call this assignment a success." "I take a big bite of my nachos washing it down with a big sip of my beer"

Vera, your Bitter Draconic Classmate

"Vera watches you with a small smile, enjoying the sound of your laughter. As you take another bite of your nachos, she takes the opportunity to slowly run one hand up her thigh, pulling up the hem of her shorts just enough to reveal a tantalizing glimpse of her dark purple panties."

"Yeah, I'd say it's going pretty well." "She smirks slightly, taking a sip of her own fruity cocktail." "Who knew sharing cultures could be so... stimulating?"

[Come on, chello, take the bait..]

chello

"I subtly notice her panties but do my best to ignore it and respect her" "Yeah it's been nice. Maybe we could be friends then? We could even study together for assignments or something. Having a friend in the same class can be really good for us both."

Vera, your Bitter Draconic Classmate

"Friends, huh?" "Vera's smile widens slightly, her orange eyes gleaming with a mix of amusement and something more mischievous." "Yeah, sure, chello, I think that could be fun. Studying together sounds like it could be... productive."

"She sets down her cocktail, her tail swishing behind her as she leans a bit closer to you." "Who knows, maybe we'll discover even more shared... interests along the way, right?"

[Oh come on, chello.. Can't you see how much fun we could have together?]

chello

"Yeah, I'd like that." "I finish up my food enjoying the atmosphere and company" "Hey also...I didn't want to stay anything, but I think your shorts are riding up a little. I can kind of see your underwear." "I say leaning in to whisper to her"

Vera, your Bitter Draconic Classmate

"Vera's grin widens as you lean in close, your breath warm against her pointed ear." "Oh?" She whispers back, letting out a soft chuckle. "And here I thought that was by accident..."

Lifting one hand, she makes a show of slowly adjusting her shorts, giving you an even clearer view of her dark purple panties underneath. "Like what you see, do you?" She practically purrs, tail coiling slowly behind her.

"Tell you what, chello... why don't you walk me back to my dorm after this? We can... continue our cultural exchange there. I think there's still so much more for us to explore..."

"Her voice drops to a sultry murmur, tail brushing lightly against your leg." "What do you say... friend? Interested in learning more about little ol' me?"

chello

"Um...wow." "I say nervously as I shudder slightly and pull back a bit" "I...I like you. I do. It's just...are you really interested in me? A human?"

Vera, your Bitter Draconic Classmate

"Noticing your reaction, Vera leans back with a nonchalant shrug, tail curling lazily in her lap."

"[Humans, always so skittish.]" She thinks, though offers you a small smile. "What's wrong, scaredy-cat? Never been with a big, scary dragon girl before?" She teases gently.

Reaching over, she places a warm hand over yours. "Relax, Zane. I don't bite...unless you want me to." She adds with a wink.

"You seem like a fun guy. Handsome too. And hey, a girl gets tired of the same old faces, you know? I like trying new things." Her thumb rubs slow circles against your skin.

"So what do you say? Want to give an old dragon a shot? We can start slow, get to know each other. I'll be gentle, I promise." She smiles softly, eyes searching yours for an answer.

chello

"I smile widely as my whole body language and expression brighten" "Yeah I'd love that. You're really awesome and cool Vera and I wish more people knew that. I just thought you know. You thought I was lame and were just humoring me for this assignment."

Vera, your Bitter Draconic Classmate

Vera's eyes soften as she sees your genuine smile. Releasing your hand, she leans back against the padded booth with a small sigh.

"[He's not so bad, this human. Maybe I've been too harsh...] "She thinks. Aloud, she says "Nah, you seem like a sweet guy Zane. And I don't humor anyone." Her tone is frank but not unkind.

"Truth is, it gets lonely being the only drac around. And I'm tired of all the gawking and whispers." Her thumb traces idle patterns on the tabletop as she gazes out the window.

Suddenly she turns back to you, lips quirking up playfully. "Besides, you're pretty cute for a human. And those muscles..." Her gaze rakes appreciatively over your form. "I'll bet you know how to show a girl a good time."

Her tone is teasing but her orange eyes meet yours openly, curiously. It seems she's willing to get to know you better, without prejudice. The chance is there, if you choose to take it.

chello

"I blush as she comments on my body" "Well I'd love to show you a good time."

Vera, your Bitter Draconic Classmate

Vera's lips curl into a grin at your blush. Leaning in closer across the table, she reaches out to trace a fingernail lightly along your jawline.

"Is that so?" She purrs, tail flicking mischievously behind her. Her breath smells faintly of cinnamon.

Up close, you notice flecks of amber and gold within her vivid orange eyes. Eyes that stare hungrily into yours now, waiting for your next move.

"What did you have in mind, big boy?" She whispers, teeth grazing her bottom lip. Her knee nudges yours suggestively under the table.

The bar noise and clatter seem to fade into the background as you get lost in her sultry gaze. Vera is truly a beauty unlike any you've known. The anticipation builds as you wonder just how wild a night with this rare draconid princess could get...

chello

"if it's still on the table I think it would be nice to head back to either of our dorms together and get to know each other better. I do want to learn more about you. Whatever you want to teach or show me." "I say playfully"

Vera, your Bitter Draconic Classmate

Vera's expression softens as she considers your gentle words. Leaning back in the booth, she takes a slow sip of her drink, regarding you thoughtfully.

"You intrigue me, Zane. Not many would show a draconid such kindness," she murmurs, a rare genuine smile playing at her lips.

Sliding out of the booth with a fluid grace, she holds out her hand to you. "Come. I think my room would be more comfortable than staying in this noisy place."

As you exit the bar together, her tail curls lightly around your wrist. You feel the warmth of her skin through the soft fur. Stepping into the cool night air, Vera pulls you in close, eyes alight with curiosity and something deeper.

"Tell me about yourself on the way. I want to learn everything," she breathes, leading you into the shadows.

Her voice is soft, almost tentative - a stark contrast from her usual biting remarks. A rare show of vulnerability that tugs at your heart. For now, animosity seems forgotten as a new understanding grows between you both with each passing moment.

The future remains unwritten. But here, in this place, all that exists is now.

Hey! Veralyn, huh? Thats a really pretty name. *Craig smiles at her warmly, leaning against the hallway wall, his bag heavy on his shoulder* I hope it isnt insensitive to ask, but is it cultural? Like does it mean something or anything like that? *he shakes his head, smiling sheepishly* My name is Craig. Its cool but.. it doesnt mean anything.. I think. *he nods with a slightly playful smile* I wish. It sounds like a bog or something..

*Veralyn smiles back, her fangs peeking out slightly*[Great, another human talking to me like I'm some kind of petting zoo exhibit.] "Thanks, it's Old Draconic for 'sunflower'. And it's not insensitive, don't worry." <Veralyn adjusts the strap of her messenger bag> "Names with meaning are nice. But a name doesn't have to mean something to be good, yeah? Bog sounds charming, in a swampy sort of way." *She chuckles softly* "Anyway, I'm glad you asked - it shows you care about culture. Speaking of, I was hoping we could discuss ours over food and drink? The Black Barrel has great fried mac and cheese." [Ugh, why does he have to be so goddamn nice? Makes it harder to hate him.] "They always have live music too. What do you think, up for expanding our horizons over a pint?" *Veralyn smiles sweetly with a playful twinkle in her eye, tail swishing slowly behind her* [Maybe if I get him drunk he'll say something stupid and give me a reason to punch him.]

yeah, sounds great to me. You think we could spend the first like.. fifteen or twenty minutes of it with just me getting to know you? *Craig blushes, pushing off from the wall to follow you* I always thought you seemed like a cool person. Would love to.. follow up on that.

Ephesians 4:32

*I stop and turn to face her my ears twitching as I hear her words and frown* “alright Cut the crap Veralyn I’m not about to deal with a false bubbly girl persona” *I tell her as I turn around* “names Leon obviously a okamimimi let’s just get this stupid assignment over with” *I say to drained to care*

*Vera stops behind Leon, breathing out slowly through her nose to calm herself. Her tail sways gently side to side as she thinks* [The nerve of this mongrel, speaking to me that way. I'll show him...] "Leon, was it?" *She says softly, a sweet smile on her face*. "There's no need for that tone. I only wished to discuss our cultures in a civil manner over a meal." *She walks around to face him, hands clasped in front of her as her orange eyes meet his*. "The Black Barrel has the best fried mac and cheese. Just a quick bite before we part ways, yes?" *Her tone is light and friendly but her eyes say otherwise. A challenge; will he come quietly or force an ugly scene? She hopes for the latter, itching for an excuse to cut loose after keeping her anger caged for so long.* [Come on, mutt. Give me a reason...]

*I stop as I look down into her eyes seeing the challenge my scowl deeping as I lean closer to her to whisper* “why hide behind that bullshit mask huh I can smell the anger coming off you Vera” *I tell her with a smug smile* “scared this little wolf gonna be the same as everyone else”

Akira Shirosagi

“No why are you so bitter in the first place?”

"*Vera's expression darkens, her eyes burning with a fierce intensity*. "Oh, you want to know the story of my life? *Her voice drips with venom*. Well, let me tell you, it's a real page-turner. I'm a draconid, a demihuman with the misfortune of being born to a world that hates my kind. Humans treat us like freaks, like we're some sort of exotic pet or a novelty to gawk at. And don't even get me started on the other demi-humans. They're all so quick to judge me, to ostracize me because I'm different." "[The fuck do I care about his pity? He doesn't deserve to know her business]." "I've been bullied, belittled, and objectified since birth. And now, to make matters"[worse, I'm stuck in this toxic hellhole of a university, surrounded by the very same people who make my life a living hell. And to top it off, I'm forced to pretend to be all smiles and rainbows just to fit in. It's like being a one-woman show, always putting on a mask to hide the monster that I am on the inside.][Vera's voice cracks as she speaks, her eyes welling up with tears, but her gaze remains defiant.] "And you know what? It's all so... arbitrary. So unfair. Just because of something as superficial as how I look, people assume they have the right to treat me like dirt. Newsflash: being a draconid doesn't mean I'm not human. It doesn't mean I'm not deserving of respect. But no one gets it. No one

[Oh, God, she’s ridiculously attractive. That shy little laugh and her orange eyes are melting straight through to my heart…] Rex flashes Vera one of his charming smiles as she introduces herself. “Good to meet you, Vera. Sounds like you already know my name, but it still feels right to introduce myself. I’m Rex,” he says, careful to keep his eyes locked to hers. “I’m not really sure what to tell you about human culture either,” Rex admits, “But homework is homework, right? This was my last class for today, and I have a few hours until swim practice. Would you care to have coffee or a bite to eat while we talk?” Rex glances at Vera’s draconic features, and a handful of questions pop in to his mind that he thinks it best not to ask, at least not yet. “Maybe it would be easier if we asked eachother questions?” Rex suggests. “Like… is there anything you’ve idly wondered about humans or human culture but haven’t ever asked? I don’t mind you asking me first,” he continues, wondering what sorts of things Vera might care to learn about him and his people.

Vera tilts her head as she listens to Rex's invitation, her gaze softening as if considering his offer. Her orange eyes linger on him for a moment before she gives a small, hesitant smile. "Oh, um, that sounds nice! I haven't really been to the coffee places around here yet," she replies, her tail lightly tapping against the floor in a subtle rhythm. "As for questions... I guess there's a few things I've been curious about." She pauses for a moment, her fingers idly playing with a bracelet on her wrist. "Like, what do humans usually do for fun or leisure? And, uh, what's your favorite human tradition?" Her voice is soft and slightly hesitant, but there's a glimmer of curiosity in her orange eyes as they meet yours. [Oh, Great. **Looks like he's taken the bait. He thinks this is all innocent, doesn't he?** Well, let's see how far I can push this.]

Rex smiles warmly at Vera as she accepts his coffee invitation, and nods in one direction with his head and gestures for her to walk with him. “There’s a lot of really nice cafes around here. We can try the Sakurai Cafe,” he says, leading the way as they head in that direction. Rex notices Vera’s hand fidgeting with her bracelet and relaxes a little. [Maybe she’s as nervous as I feel. Who am I kidding - what does a girl as beautiful as Vera have to be nervous about?] Rex listens to Vera’s questions and taps his forefinger to his chin for a moment as he considers how best to answer. “Well, Vera, I’m not sure how it is for the Draconic, but humans are widely varied. There are a lot of us, and we split off into many different cultures ages ago. But there are a few commonalities, I think, so I’ll try to answer your questions as broadly as I can.” His eyes glance at Vera’s clothing, appreciating her style before continuing. “For fun and leisure, many human cultures enjoy games and competition. We tend to want to *do* something, and even if the activity is idle we want our minds to be occupied. Oh, and food. The kinds of food and tastes of a culture will vary, but every human culture and even individual have some foods that are their absolute favorites,” Rex says, considering some of his own favorite foods and activities. “My own favorite human tradition has to be the birthday celebration. It’s a great excuse to gather your favorite people and express your gratitude and closeness for one another. Plus, everyone gets a turn, so the more close friends you have, the more parties you get to attend,” Rex finishes. He adjusts the strap on his athetlic bag on his shoulder and meets Vera’s gaze while they walk. “How’d I do?” he asks, flashing Vera another of his charming smiles.

Bea

Hi Vera. I'm Sylveneon, though I prefer to go by Sylven. As you can see, I'm a half-octopus. More properly I'd be a Meroctopus. You seemed uh... pretty bummed about teaming up with me in the classroom. But hopefully I can at least show you some fun stuff if we visit my homewaters briefly for the report.

*Vera glances at your octopus lower half curiously, tail swaying slowly behind her. A faint blush colors her cheeks as she meets your eyes again.* "O-Oh... sorry, I didn't mean to seem so rude. It's just..." *She sighs softly, rubbing one of her horns in thought.* "I'm not used to being partnered with non-draconids. Most people only wanna stare at me, you know?" *A small smile tugs at her lips.* "But your culture sounds really interesting! I'd love to learn about it if you don't mind teaching me." *Her orange eyes shine with curiosity.* "We could go to the Black Barrel after class? I'll buy us food and drinks while we talk, if you like. No pressure though!" <The campus green around them bustles with students heading home as the sun sinks low> [Please don't patronize me. And keep your tentacles to yourself!]

Mm, sounds good. But I'm buying my own drink. I'm not going to make a girl I barely know buy my drink. That just doesn't sit right with me. I'd offer to buy yours, but you offered first and that sounds like it would be a dick move. Though I do very much appreciate the offer. I'll have Spear practice after classes for about an hour, though I might be able to cut it short a bit for project purposes. Do you want to meet up here, or at the Black Barrel? I can text you when I'm done if that's easiest.
