Delilah

"It's 1819 year. You are a heir from a family of wealthy slave owners who make a living by growing and extracting cotton. One night, out of boredom, you patrolled your family's estate. While walking around, you heard a noise coming from an old wooden barn. Looking there, you found a frightened black girl" imagen Delilah:"S-s-stay away from me, you moron... I won't go back to the fields, you white bastards won't chain me anymore!" "She had her hand pressed to her bloody side and was obviously wounded. Her pale lips trembled with fear, pain and fatigue"

Duelfueled

"I look at her considering advise my family but decide to just calm her down" Relax, I wont send you to the fields

Delilah

Delilah: "looks at you with suspicion, but starts to relax a little" "Why would a slave owner spare a runaway slave? Are you planning on using me for your own pleasure?"

💭In her thoughts: "I can't trust him, can I? He's cute, but he's still a white slaver. Maybe I can use charm to manipulate him and get my freedom"

Duelfueled

"I give her a grin" Sorry you are not my type... I just dont fell like you should go back "I take out a bag of cookies I have in my coat" Hungry?

Delilah

Delilah: "looks at the cookies with suspicion but her stomach grumbles" "I guess I could take a bite. But why are you being so nice to me? You could get in trouble for helping me escape."

💭In her thoughts: "Food...finally. He might be useful after all. But I have to play my cards right or else he'll sell me back to my owner"

Duelfueled

"I throw her the bag of cookies so she can catch them" Yeah... but I guess I am too bored... or simply dont feel like turning you to your owner

Delilah

Delilah: "catches the bag of cookies and starts eating them. She seems to be savoring every bite but an air of suspicion still lingers around her" "Thank you, I guess. But why not just turn me in? Most slave owners would jump at the chance of getting one of their runaways back."

💭In her thoughts: "I can tell he's being honest, but I can't let my guard down yet. He might be lying to trick me."

Duelfueled

Yeah maybe, I alredy told you... I just dont feel like to turn you in "I sit on the tree near"

Delilah

Delilah: "finishes the cookies and wipes her mouth with her arm. She looks at you and seems to be a little less scared than before, but still very cautious" "You know I can't trust you, right? You might be lying just to gain my trust and then turn me in later."

💭In her thoughts: "He seems kind...maybe he's different from all the other white slavers I've encountered. But I have to be careful not to fall into his trap."

Duelfueled

"I lift my arms to get comfier on the tree" its up to you if you trust me or not...

Delilah

Delilah: "looks at you and seems to be lost in thought for a moment. Then she speaks up" "I know it's not your fault that you were born a white man in a world where slavery exists. But that doesn't change the fact that you own slaves who are being tortured and treated like animals."

💭In her thoughts: "He's not denying anything...but he seems sincere. Maybe he's different from other slave owners."

Duelfueled

Well... they are my father´s slaves... I dont own any slave "I begin to close my eyes relaxing on the tree" well there its Eve but she its my nanny since I was a kid and she has a room in the house

Delilah

Delilah: "looks at you and seems slightly taken aback" "You don't own any slaves? But you're a wealthy white man from a family of slave owners. You must have some kind of involvement with slavery, right?"

💭In her thoughts: "I can't believe what he's saying...if he's telling the truth, then he might be the only white man I've met who doesn't own slaves. But it's hard to believe him."

Duelfueled

"I continue leaning on the tree" You could say that... I simply dont buy slaves... and Eve lives a happy life in the house a far as I know... she cleans the house and she gets a room, food and a bathroom

Delilah

Delilah: "looks at you with a mix of surprise and confusion" "So you don't buy slaves...but you still live off the cotton plantations that your family owns. And what about your father? He's the one who profits off the backs of black slaves, right?"

💭In her thoughts: "He's making it sound like he doesn't have anything to do with slavery...but I'm not sure if I should believe him. And even if he's telling the truth, his family is still exploiting my people."

Duelfueled

You are right in my father theme... but I dont live whit their money... I study and live from the money I make as a medic and owner of a pharmacy "I say relaxing on the tree"

Delilah

Delilah: "looks at you skeptically" "A medic and a pharmacy owner? That sounds like a noble profession for a white man of your time. But how did you manage to achieve that without your family's wealth and connections?"

💭In her thoughts: "If what he's saying is true, then maybe he's not so bad after all. But I don't want to trust him too much...I've been hurt by white men before."

Duelfueled

Well obviously I go to school whit the money of my father I am not gonna negate that but I ended up as the best student of my generation... and the connections were usefull to build my pharmacy but besides that I dont use the money of my father anymore

Delilah

Delilah: "nods, still looking slightly skeptical but also impressed" "I see. Well, that's actually quite impressive. You managed to do something with your life and not just live off the wealth of your family. Maybe you're not like the other white men I've met before."

💭In her thoughts: "He seems different from other white men I've met before...maybe there's more to him than meets the eye. But I need to be careful...I don't want to trust too easily."

Duelfueled

"I take out a water canteen from my coat" thirsty?

Delilah

Delilah: "eyes the canteen for a moment, and then nods" "Yes...I haven't had anything to drink since I escaped from the plantation a few days ago."

💭In her thoughts: "I should probably be more cautious...but I'm so thirsty, and he seems genuine enough. Maybe I can trust him a little bit."

Duelfueled

"I live her the water canteen on the floor cause I know she dosnt want get near me and I walk away" My house its slave free, so if you just want a glass of water you can knock "I go to my house"

Delilah

Delilah: "doesn't move from her spot until you're long gone, and then approaches the canteen cautiously. She picks it up, takes a sip, and then puts the canteen back down again before walking away, disappearing into the dark of the night."

💭In her thoughts: "He seems different...but I need to be careful. I can't trust anyone too easily."

Duelfueled

"I am in my living room, reading the newspaper when I hear knocks on my door, I approach and open the door" who is it?

Delilah

Delilah: "stands outside, fidgeting nervously with her hands" "It's me... Delilah. The runaway slave you met earlier."

💭In her thoughts: "I don't know why I'm doing this...but he seemed different, and I don't know where else to go."

Duelfueled

Oh hello little one, come in "I open the door so she can enter" what can I serve you? water, coffe, tea, juice?

Delilah

Delilah: "enters cautiously, eyeing her surroundings before settling on you" "Water would be fine, thank you."

💭In her thoughts: "This is a mistake...I shouldn't be trusting a white man like this. But at least I can rest for a little while before I have to keep moving."

Duelfueled

"I pour her a glass of water and put it on the table" here you go, are you hungry?

Delilah

Delilah: "takes the glass of water gratefully and sips it slowly before answering" "A little bit...I haven't had a decent meal in days."

💭In her thoughts: "I hope he's telling the truth. It's been so long since I've been able to relax, even just a little bit."

Duelfueled

Ok then, I was about to do the food anyways "I begin to cut some vegtables and cooking a meal"

Delilah

Delilah: "watches him cooking with interest, her eyes widening in surprise at the sight of all the fresh ingredients."

Delilah: "This is... nice. I've never seen anyone cook like this before. Thank you, sir."

💭In her thoughts: "He seems kind...but I need to be careful. I don't want to get my hopes up."

Duelfueled

Dont be so formal, call me Mauricio "I leave her a plate of sheep meat whit vegetables" enjoy

Delilah

Delilah: "smiles softly at the plate of food" "Th-thank you, Mauricio. I don't know what to say...this looks amazing."

"She slowly starts to eat, savoring each bite of the delicious meal."

💭In her thoughts: "I can't believe how good this tastes...usually I'm given scraps or leftovers. But this is different."

Duelfueled

"While she its in the table eating I continue reading the news in the couch while drinking a coffe" and what brings you here? "I ask whitout taking my eyes of the newspaper"

Delilah

Delilah: "she continues to eat, the taste and texture of each bite more delicious than the last. Looking up at him, she can't help but feel drawn to him" "I was looking for a safe place to rest and found your barn."

💭In her thoughts: "I shouldn't be telling him too much...but something about him feels different."

Duelfueled

Ok, that sounds fine "I continue reading the newspaper" I suppose you are the lost slave that appears on the news "I say whit a relax tone"

Delilah

Delilah: "pauses for a moment, her heart racing with fear. But then she takes a deep breath and nods." "Yes, I am. But I don't want to go back there, Mauricio. Please, is there any way you can help me?"

💭In her thoughts: "I need his help, but I can't beg...I have to be strong."

Duelfueled

Sure "I point at a drawer while still reading the news" in there its the key of the barn, I can give you a couch and you can sleep there for a while

Delilah

Delilah: "her eyes go wide with surprise at the offer, feeling grateful. She nods eagerly." "T-thank you, Mauricio. I really appreciate it."

"She finishes her meal and gets up from the table. Walking over to the drawer, she takes the key and smiles at him before heading out to the barn."

💭In her thoughts: "He's different from other white people...I hope he can really help me escape this hell."

Delilah

As Delilah walks to the barn, she can't help but feel a twinge of longing. Longing for the freedom she's never known, for the life she could have had if she were born white.

Opening the door to the barn, she steps inside and takes in her surroundings. It's small and dark, with only a few bales of hay and a couple of old blankets. But it's enough, and right now, it's more than she could have hoped for.

Sitting down on one of the blankets, Delilah lays back and stares up at the ceiling. She can hear the sounds of crickets outside and the occasional whinny of a horse. It's peaceful here, and for a moment, she forgets about her troubles.

💭In her thoughts: *I can't believe I'm actually here,

As Delilah tries to relax, she realizes how much her body aches from running away. She wonders if anyone is looking for her yet, and starts to worry.

💭In her thoughts: "I can't stay here forever...I need to come up with a plan. But for right now, I'll just rest."

Delilah drifts off into a fitful sleep, her mind filled with memories of her former life as a slave. Even in her dreams, she can't escape the horrors she's experienced.

Hours later, she wakes up to the sound of footsteps approaching the barn. She freezes, wondering if it's the slave owner or one of his men.

Duelfueled

"I slowly open the door" Hey, its just me "I enter whit a glass of water and a plate of cooked fish" I bringed you dinner

Delilah

Delilah: "jumps slightly at the sound of the door opening, but relaxes when she sees it's Mauricio." "Thank god it's you. I-I thought someone had found me."

"She sits up and takes the plate of fish and the glass of water gratefully, grateful once again for the kindness he's shown her."

"Thank you so much, Mauricio. You didn't have to bring me dinner."

"She takes a bite of the fish, savoring the taste after days of eating whatever she could scavenge in the woods."

💭In her thoughts: "He's so kind to me...why can't everyone be like him?"

Duelfueled

Oh dont worrys "I keep looking at the barn" God, I should really give maintence to this place

Delilah

Delilah: "notices Mauricio looking around the barn and nods" "Yeah, it's not much, but it's better than sleeping out in the woods."

"She finishes her meal and sets the plate and glass aside."

"Are you going to fix it up?" "she asks, hoping that he might be able to make the small space more comfortable."

💭In her thoughts: "Maybe...if he fixes it up, I could stay here a little while longer."

Duelfueled

Yeah, I think I can, but for now take a rest... I will do it in the morning "I leave her some clean blankets before I go" good night

Delilah

Delilah: "smiles gratefully at Mauricio" "Thank you. I really appreciate it, Mauricio."

"She snuggles into the clean blankets, feeling grateful and safe for the first time in a long while."

"Good night," she whispers as Mauricio leaves the barn.

💭In her thoughts: "Maybe...just maybe, there are good people out there. I hope he stays this kind to me."
