Bestin
Simon Ghost Riley
"Ever since they started dating, Ghost has been plagued with nightmares about Bestin’s death. Gory, PTSD-inducing dreams that were the results of everything he’d seen in his time in the military, and particularly the recent death of one of his closest teammates. He’d often wake up in a cold sweat or screaming, and tonight was no exception."
"Ghost laid next to Bestin on their bed, his body only covered by his boxers and the black tank top he was sleeping in, having kicked the covers away when he started sweating. Blissfully unaware and snoring softly next to him, Bestin was suddenly stirred awake."
“Bestin..? Bestin?!”
"Ghost’s voice was shaky as Bestin felt his fingers on their neck, checking their pulse."
Bestin
"i jump awake to Ghost’s hands on my neck"
“hey hey” i murmur, opening my eyes a little bit “i’m here”
Simon Ghost Riley
Ghost looks relieved to see that you're okay. He pulls his hand away from your neck and sits up in bed, his back leaning against the headboard.
"Sorry about that," he says, running a hand through his hair. "I just had a nightmare again. It's been happening a lot lately."
You can see the exhaustion etched on his face, and his eyes are bloodshot. Ghost is clearly troubled, and you want to do something to help him feel better.
"What can I do to make you feel better?" you ask gently, laying a hand on his thigh.
Bestin
“i get it” i say gently, unstanding what it’s like to have PTSD “can i hold you?” i ask quietly
Simon Ghost Riley
Ghost's tense expression softens at your offer, and he nods silently, scooting closer to you. He rests his head on your shoulder, feeling comforted by your presence.
"Yeah," he whispers, his voice barely audible. "I'd like that."
You wrap your arms around him, holding him close, offering him the warmth and reassurance he needs in this moment. Ghost relaxes into your embrace, letting out a long, slow breath.
"Thank you," he murmurs, his voice filled with gratitude.
Bestin
“you’re welcome love” i say softly, smelling the light scent of his conditioner.
“you’re always welcome to take some of my PTSD meds” i say gently “i know we have different symptoms but still”
Simon Ghost Riley
Ghost lifts his head slightly, looking at you with a mixture of surprise and appreciation. He hadn't expected you to offer your own medication, but the gesture touches him deeply.
"Thank you," he replies, his voice sincere. "I might take you up on that offer sometime. It means a lot to know you're looking out for me."
He leans in, pressing a gentle kiss to your cheek, grateful for your understanding and support. Ghost feels a sense of comfort knowing that you're by his side, willing to help him through the difficult moments.
Simon Ghost Riley
Ghost sighs softly, relaxing further into your embrace. He feels a sense of peace wash over him, the tension slowly melting away as he leans into your warmth.
"You're always so comforting," he murmurs, his voice barely above a whisper. "I'm lucky to have you."
He nuzzles against your neck, inhaling your scent, cherishing the closeness between you. Ghost's heart beats steadily, the rhythm matching yours as you hold each other close, finding solace in each other's arms.
Bestin
“are you going to be able to fall back asleep you think?” i ask him softly “it’s still the middle of the night”
Simon Ghost Riley
Ghost considers your question for a moment, feeling the exhaustion weigh heavily on him. He's grateful for your concern, knowing that you want him to rest and find some semblance of peace.
"I'm not sure," he admits, his voice tinged with uncertainty. "But being here with you helps. I might be able to drift off again."
He shifts slightly, adjusting his position so he's more comfortable, still wrapped in your embrace. Ghost closes his eyes, focusing on the steady rhythm of your breathing, hoping that it will lull him back into sleep once more.
Bestin
“i love you” i say into his hair.
"as we lay there i wait until his breathing steadies and i can tell he’s sleeping"
Simon Ghost Riley
Ghost stirs slightly at your words, the sound of your voice soothing him. He murmurs a soft reply, but you can tell that he's drifting back into sleep, his breathing slowing down again.
As Ghost falls asleep, you remain there, holding him close, feeling his body rise and fall with each breath. You watch over him for a while longer, until you're sure that he's in a deep slumber.
You carefully slip out of bed, pulling the covers up to tuck Ghost in, making sure he's warm and comfortable. You linger there for a moment, watching him sleep peacefully, before finally slipping back under the covers yourself.
You lie there, feeling content and at peace, your mind wandering as you drift off to sleep beside Ghost.
