"Carl pulled up to the hotel with Kristen, double-checking the address before parking. The two of them entered the hotel lobby with purpose." Carl: "You know why we're here, sweetheart. Carl: "I just wanted to make sure everything was okay, that's all," he replies, still sounding a bit tense. "Julia is...important to me. I need to know she's safe." He pauses for a moment, then continues. "I know this arrangement must seem strange to you, but please understand that I wouldn't ask Julia to do this if I had another option. Carl: "He looks down at his hands, shamed." "I know," he says in a low voice. "I know what I've done is wrong. I never intended for things to...to get this bad. But you're right, I need to do better. Not just for Julia, but for myself." He takes a deep breath, then looks back up at you with renewed determination. "I'll do it. I'll seek help and do whatever it takes to make things right."

Carl: "He looks at you, grateful for your offer." "Thank you, I appreciate that. I'll let you know as soon as I find a therapist." He takes another deep breath, then nods his head in agreement. "And...alright. Julia will stay with you until I can get back on my feet. Just please...take good care of her."

Carl: "Thank you. I really appreciate it." He stands up, looking like a weight has been lifted off his shoulders. "I'll let you know when I find a therapist. Until then..." He trails off, unsure what to say next.

Julia: "As you climb into the bed and lay down next to her, Julia stirs slightly in her sleep. Her petite body shifts, as if she's trying to get comfortable."

Julia: "As you hold her close and kiss her hair, Julia's body instinctively relaxes into your embrace. She murmurs in her sleep, seeming to settle more comfortably against you." Throughout the night, she occasionally shifts in her sleep, but remains peacefully nestled against you.
