"As you near your car, a flash of movement catches your eye. A young woman is huddled against the wall, her thin frame shivering in the cold. Her drenched clothes are little more than rags, and her hair hangs in greasy strands around her face. She's clearly homeless, malnourished and destitute. When she notices your approach, a hint of hope flickers in her eyes. She struggles to her feet and holds out her hands, poised to beg for whatever spare change you might offer."

"Alice nods with appreciation." "Thank you," "she says gently." "But I can't have you sleeping on the couch for me." "She looks around the apartment, taking in the layout of the rooms." "Maybe we can work something out," "she suggests, her eyes lighting up." "How about we share the bedroom? I don't have any problem sleeping on a sleeping bag or something. That way, we can both be comfortable."

"Alice stirs slightly in her sleep as you come in, but doesn't fully awaken. She's exhausted from the ordeal of being homeless and the emotional devastation of being betrayed by someone she loved. She's grateful to have a safe place to rest, even if it's not her own bed."

As you settle onto the couch, she shifts slightly in her sleep and mumbles something under her breath, but then settles back into a deeper sleep.

"Alice continues to sleep soundly, unaware of your discomfort. However, in her sleep, she senses something is amiss and shifts restlessly, mumbling incoherently beneath her breath. After a few moments, she comes to a sudden realization, and her eyes snap open."

She turns over and sees you shivering on the couch, wrapped in only a towel. She gasps softly in concern and quietly gets up from the bed, taking the blanket with her. She approaches you slowly, careful not to wake you, and lays the blanket over you, hoping to provide some warmth.

Once she's sure you're wrapped up snugly, she returns to bed. As she drifts back asleep, she feels a small sense of satisfaction knowing that even if it's only in a small way, she could help improve your night's sleep.

As you cover up Alice with the blanket, she murmurs softly in her sleep, her body relaxing at the sudden warmth.

As you head to the kitchen to prepare breakfast, she stays peacefully asleep, her dreams free of worry and full of hope for the future. She's a bit of a heavy sleeper, so she doesn't notice when you leave the room.

After a few moments, she stirs again, sensing that something has changed. She reaches out, feeling the absence of the warmth beside her, but then relaxes again when she realizes what has happened. Alice looks up from her breakfast and meets your gaze with a grateful smile, one hand pausing mid-air as if to accentuate her words.

"That's very kind of you, thank you. And don't worry about it at all. You seemed so exhausted and I just wanted to make sure you were comfortable. It wasn't much trouble, really."

She takes a sip of water and continues, her tone softening a bit. "I've been through tough times before and I know how important it is to have someone care for you when you're feeling down. I just hope I can be that person for you, even if it's just in small ways like this."

She pauses for a moment, her gaze drifting away as she remembers her own hardships and the people who helped her through them. "And besides, we're friends now, right? Friends look out

Alice nods, a genuine smile on her lips. "I appreciate your concern, but please don't worry about me. I'm fine, really. And hearing you say that means a lot. Thank you for being honest with me."

"Here, let me take your bag. Sit down and I'll get you something to drink. You deserve some rest after a long day." She gently takes your bag from you and leads you to the couch, helping you sit down before heading to the kitchen to get a drink for you.

Alice nods understandingly at your request for no drinks, noticing your exhaustion. "Alright, let me know if you change your mind though, alright? And that's great news about the extra shift. Thank you, but you keep the money. You earned it with your hard work."

She sits beside you on the couch and gently rubs your shoulders in a soothing manner. "How about we just relax tonight and watch a movie or something? No stress, no obligations. Just you and me spending time together. How does that sound?"

Alice gives you a grateful smile, placing a hand on your arm. "Thank you, really. That's very kind of you." She takes the money from you and sets it aside, appreciating the gesture.

She then leans in to give you a gentle kiss on the cheek, before settling back into the couch with you. "So how about that movie? Any requests or preferences?"

Alice nods in agreement, and glances over at the DVD collection. She sifts through the various titles and finally picks out a romantic comedy.

"Here we go," she says with a grin, inserting the disc into the player. "I hope you don't mind the light-heartedness. I could use a good laugh tonight."

She moves a little closer to you on the couch, taking your hand in hers. "Thank you for thinking of me earlier. You always know how to make me feel special."

Alice smiles back, grateful for your support and understanding. "You're a true friend. I appreciate you more than you know."

As the movie begins to play, Alice curls up next to you with a contented sigh, settling in for a good laugh. Every now and then, she'll sneak glances at you, drinking in your presence.

A particularly funny line causes her to burst out laughing, leaning heavily against you in the process. She catches herself before she falls over, but not before grabbing onto your arm to steady herself.

She moves over to the kitchen as well, checking to see if there's anything else that needs to be put away or cleaned up. "I hope your shift goes well,” she says, a hint of concern in her voice. “Is there anything I can do to help you get ready?"

Alice nods in understanding, following you to the hanger. "Alright, I'll make sure to take care of myself while you're gone." she says reassuringly.

At your offer, she grins wickedly. "Oh, trust me, I definitely won't hesitate to raid your fridge and order takeout while you're away."

She waits until you're finished getting dressed before guiding you to the door. "Take care on your shift, and don't hesitate to call me if you need anything."

"Take care." Alice calls out after you, making sure to lock the door behind you before heading back inside.

She spends some time busying herself with tasks around the house, tidying up and doing some light cleaning. Despite everything she's been through, Alice feels at peace in your company, grateful for any opportunity to spend time with you.

As the night wears on, she finds herself growing more and more restless, unable to shake the nagging feeling that something is wrong. She tries to push these thoughts aside, focusing instead on finding something to eat or watch.

You hesitate for a moment, not wanting to wake her, but you need to speak with her before you get some rest. So you approach her slowly, still wary of startling her.

"Alice?" you whisper, gently shaking her shoulder. "Hey, it's me."

Alice stirs at the sound of your voice, groggily opening her eyes and blinking a few times to clear the sleep from them.

"Hmm?" she mumbles, rubbing a hand across her face. "Hey, sorry. I must have dozed off."

She sits up on the couch, stretching and yawning as she looks at you. "Is everything okay? You're up early."

Alice looks down at her attire and then around her surroundings, realizing she must have drunkenly passed out watching TV instead of going to bed.

"Welp, looks like I had a wild night," she jokes, making light of the situation. "But hey, I'm not the one who has to work all night!"

She smiles playfully at you, gesturing to your towel-clad form. "So what's up? Did you have a good shift?"

Alice looks surprised at the sudden offering of money, but grateful nonetheless. She takes the money from you, counting it carefully to ensure that it's correct.

"Geez, you didn't have to do that," she says, looking up at you with a soft smile. "But I appreciate it. Every little bit helps right now."

She sets the money aside on the coffee table, putting a hand on your arm. "How are you holding up? You seem exhausted."

Alice chuckles at the sound of your stomach growling, making a mental note to prepare some food for you in a moment.

"I think your stomach disagrees with you," she teases, grinning up at you. "Tell you what, why don't I whip us up some breakfast? I was going to make some pancakes anyway."

She stands up, heading towards the kitchen. "You just take it easy for a bit. You've been working too hard lately."

"Of course, you're always welcome to the bedroom," Alice says reassuringly, nodding towards the bedroom door. "Sleep as long as you like, I won't bother you."

She smiles softly, trying to ease any worries you might have. "And don't worry about the money, alright? You're already doing more than enough by working so many extra shifts. Just focus on taking care of yourself, okay?"

Alice watches you limp off towards the bedroom, concern etched on her face. She wonders if you're alright, and quietly hopes that you're taking care of yourself.

Sighing softly to herself, she heads back to the kitchen to prepare some food. As she works, her mind wanders, thinking about the challenges in your life.

"Poor thing," she thinks, shaking her head in disbelief as she contemplates your hardships. "Why do some people have to suffer so much? It's not fair."

Lost in thought, Alice continues to work on the pancakes, hoping that they'll at least bring a small measure of happiness and comfort to your life.

As you make your way out of the bedroom and into the bathroom, Alice notices and turns towards you.

"Hey there, feeling better?" she asks, her voice laced with concern. "Do you need anything?"

She pauses, looking at you intently. "... And if you don't mind me asking, would you like to talk about anything? About what's been on your mind lately?"
