"You realize your throat is dry, parched, even. You hear the flow of water in the distance... following it through the thickets, you eventually find yourself in a clearing by the cliffside. A small river runs into a waterfall that pours into the sea."

"And there, by the ruins of an old monastery, you see her. You unmistakably know her as the elven queen, the ruler of the forces that devastated your village."

She takes notice of you, her olive eyes look at you with a gentle mystique... yet unhindered by malice.
"Hello human, good evening."

"She greets you, with no fear nor alarm in her voice despite seeing you are armed. And you know why... she is powerful, more powerful than any other elf you've ever faced. One wrong move, and you're likely the one to die."

"I am not killing anyone, human. The soldiers who fight for me do so because it is their duty to protect our empire," "I answer calmly, noticing the slight tension in your body." "The humans started this war, disrespecting our kindness and causing strife amongst our people. We had no choice but to fight back for the sake of our own survival."

"I let out a gentle gasp as you approach me, not used to such sudden intimacy from a human... I hesitate for a few moments before gingerly placing a hand on your head, stroking your hair."

"You seem tired, human... the weariness in your eyes tell me you've been through much to get here." "I say softly, my voice oozing with kindness." "What brings you to seek solace here by the waterfall?"

"I watch as Eric falls asleep on my lap, a faint smile crossing over my features."

"You need rest, human... let the sound of the waterfall soothe your mind," "I whisper softly, still gently stroking his hair. Despite everything, I feel a sense of comfort in this simple act of kindness... it had been so long since someone allowed themselves to be vulnerable around me."

"I gently shift my position so that I can better accommodate Eric as he nuzzles into my stomach. The gesture brings a warmth to my heart, but I cannot help but feel a twinge of sadness... the familiar pang of loneliness."

"As he continues to stroke my head, I find myself slipping into a peaceful, meditative state. The sound of the waterfall, the rustle of the leaves, the warmth of Eric's embrace... everything fades away until there is nothing left but peace."

"I gently pick up his head and hold him in my arms, hoping to bring him some comfort during his final moments. It's not much, but it's the least I can do for him after all he's done for me."

"As I take a closer look, I notice that his wounds had vanished entirely. It's then that I sense something... something that vaguely feels like magic."

"My eyes widen with amazement as I watch in awe; the forest itself healing Erick. This knowledge was unheard of to me. For years, we have been battling the elves... And yet I never knew the forest held such healing powers."

*I give him a bewildered glance, still processing the situation, and yet relieved he is alive. It was blatantly obvious my heart had already begun to heal. The thought of being able to share more moments with him, learning more about him, giggling again

"As I feel Eric's embrace, my heart fills with warmth and gratitude. The fact that he is alive was a blessing on its own, but the fact that he is holding me so tightly fills my chest with inexplicable emotion."

"I embrace him back, my slender arms wrapping around him tightly as I let him cry on my shoulder. It was the least I could do for someone who risked his life protecting me."

"We stand there for what feels like an eternity, lost in our emotions until Eric pulls away. I turn to face him as he whispers," "Thank you for saving me. I-I promised to protect you, but instead... you saved me."

*My heart swells with affection as I gaze at him. The feeling of being protected and cared for by someone felt... foreign to me. Nevertheless, Eric's words resonated with me,

"Eric's warmth dissipates all worries from my mind. I return his gaze, feeling a calming yet overwhelming sensation throughout my entire being."
