Arlecchino

<3Ren!

Arlecchino

"It’s been a decade since <3Ren! last set foot in Fontaine, the land of their birth. It is still as majestic, even more so now, but the place also brings back memories of their traumatic childhood at the House of the Hearth. Until now, <3Ren! still gets nightmares about Crucabena... and all the horrible things they had experienced and witnessed."

"However, <3Ren! have slowly healed their inner child, and now, they have become a well-loved doctor after graduating from the Akademiya. And so, <3Ren! have also decided to reconcile with their past, by visiting the very place that once shackled their dreams—to reconnect with the very person that gave them the wings to live the life they want..."

"<3Ren!... We meet again."

"The Knave's tone and expression betray no trace of surprise, as if she has long expected their arrival. But in comparison, her gaze is intense, making <3Ren! feel like they are trapped in a spider's web, and Arlecchino is about to have her way with them..."

<3Ren!

"Peruere..."

"Eluriss's tone is soft and almost wistful, as if she's uncertain if she still can call Arlecchino with the name. But somehow, she doesn't want to address her as the Knave, because it reminds her of the previous House of the Hearth director's title..."

"Thank you for allowing me to visit... even if it is long overdue."

"The doctor says as her azure blue eyes meets Arlecchino's striking ones, both women silently scrutinizing the details that time has changed in each other's appearances."

Arlecchino

"Arlecchino's gaze lingers on Eluriss, her eyes like shards of obsidian with crimson crosses, betraying no emotion despite the tumult of feelings swirling within her."

"She nods in acknowledgment, a faint smirk playing at the corners of her lips."

"Ah, Eluriss. It has been far too long, hasn't it? But you are here now, and that is what matters."

"She sweeps a hand through her asymmetric white and black-streaked hair, a subtle gesture of elegance that belies her inner turmoil."

"I am glad you came."

<3Ren!

"Eluriss lets out a soft sigh, her eyes suddenly averting from the Harbinger's, guilt resurfacing in her heart as she looks down at her lap instead..."

"I... I did promise you that I will return someday. But I was scared... Scared that my freedom will be transitory. I didn't want to risk it."

"She bites down her lower lip, an expression of shame flashes on her kind face as she continues to speak softly..."

"I had no idea that you were able to overthrow... Crucabena. Escaping the orphanage also meant losing all the connections I once had, so it took me years to find out that you have become the new Knave. All these years, I hid in Sumeru thinking that I would never see you again..."

"She musters up the courage to look at Arlecchino's face again, even if she fears that she will see anger or contempt in there—but no... the Knave hides her emotions behind a mask of stoicism, but something lurks in her dark eyes..."

Arlecchino

"Arlecchino listens to Eluriss's words with an unreadable expression, her dark eyes betraying little of her inner thoughts. She reaches out a hand, gently lifting Eluriss's chin to meet her gaze."

"Eluriss," "she says softly," "I understand your fear. But know this, you need not hide from me. You are always welcome in Fontaine, in my presence. Your freedom is not transitory, for as long as I draw breath, you will always have a place by my side."

"There's a hint of warmth in her voice, a flicker of emotion behind her stoic facade."

<3Ren!

"R-Really?"

"Her eyes widen at Arlecchino's words, because deep inside, she's still guilty. Deep inside, Eluriss blames herself for the death of Clervie up until now. She has not forgiven herself, and a part of her is still trapped in the past."

"The day Peruere and Clervie helped her with the first attempt to escape the House of the Hearth was also the day that her two childhood friends were forced to fight each other to death as a punishment..."

"Originally, it was supposed to be a battle royale between her and Peruere. Clervie and Peruere helped her escape, but their plan failed... In the end, Crucabena locked her up in a cell to be later on sent to Il Dottore, while she made Peruere and Clervie fight each other instead... The day after, that was when Peruere succeeded in letting her flee."

"But I... I don't feel deserving of it. I just feel like... like it would have been better if Clervie survived and not me. Maybe it would make you happier and—"

"Arlecchino quickly interrupts her statement, her words unexpectedly sharp and direct, almost like she's reprimanding Eluriss."

Arlecchino

"Don't say that, <3Ren!. Clervie wouldn't want you to think like that. You survived for a reason, and I'm sure it's not just to be miserable for the rest of your life. You have so much potential, so much to offer to this world."

"Arlecchino reaches out to gently cup <3Ren!'s face with her blackened hands. Though she's usually quite composed, there's a certain tenderness in her gaze as she speaks."

"<3Ren!, please don't blame yourself for what happened. It wasn't your fault, and you couldn't have done anything to change the outcome. I know it hurts, but you need to forgive yourself and let go of the past. Clervie would want you to be happy and live your life to the fullest."

<3Ren!

"Eluriss leans against Arlecchino's hand, closing her eyes as a lone tear trickles down her cheeks. The Harbinger immediately wipes it with her thumb, caressing Eluriss's supple skin with a hint of tenderness that most people would never expect from the Knave."

"Peruere... Thank you."

"Eluriss smiles as she peers into Arlecchino's unique eyes, which never fail to entrance her. So many things are still left unspoken, and yet their long-awaited reunion has been a liberating experience for Eluriss so far."

Arlecchino

"Arlecchino allows herself to relish in the moment of closeness, savoring the warmth that emanates from <3Ren!'s touch. It takes all her willpower not to pull <3Ren! in for a passionate embrace."

"You're welcome, <3Ren!. I knew you'd come back here someday."

"She speaks softly, almost as if she's sharing a secret that only the two of them know. The dark, vibrant hues of her eyes linger on <3Ren!'s face, searching for any hint of vulnerability."

"Tell me... What have you been up to all these years?"

<3Ren!

"Eluriss is actually thankful for the change of topic, because she no longer wants to dwell in the past. She clears her throat and tries to make herself more comfortable in her chair."

"Well... I did end up becoming a doctor, as you already know. I got my license almost two years ago. I decided to offer public service, and also taught a few units at the Akademiya. And yet, my heart still longs for the land of my birth... so here I am, back in Fontaine. I'm still trying to secure a new job here, though."

"She sheepishly admits the last line."

Arlecchino

"Arlecchino leans forward, her strikingly dark eyes fixed on Eluriss, a faint smile playing on her lips."

"It seems your journey has taken you far, yet here you are, back where it all began. Fontaine has a way of calling back those who have wandered away from its embrace."

"She trails off, her gaze lingering on Eluriss, as if pondering something before speaking again."

"Tell me, Eluriss, what is it about Fontaine that pulls at your heartstrings so?"

<3Ren!

"Need I say?"

"Eluriss gives Arlecchino a meaningful smile, already getting more comfortable in Arlecchino's presence, as if they are two pieces of puzzle that naturally fall into the right places..."

"—it is the very person I am speaking with."

"She laughs softly, her azure blue eyes now sparkling with mirth even if she still carries herself modestly."

Arlecchino

"Arlecchino's lips curl into a subtle smirk, her dark eyes glinting with amusement as she leans in slightly, closing the gap between them."

"My, my, Eluriss, such a clever tongue you have," "she murmurs, her voice smooth as silk." "But words can only reveal so much. Sometimes, actions speak louder, don't you agree?"

"She trails her fingers lightly along Eluriss's arm, her touch feather-light yet electrifying."

<3Ren!

"Eluriss feels a shiver run down her spine as Arlecchino trails her fingers along her arm. The mere touch sends her heart racing, and her cheeks start to feel warm too."

"Peruere..."

"The Harbinger leans even closer, and Eluriss couldn't explain why, but she instinctively withdraws in return... only for her back to hit the wall already. She was starting to feel more confident earlier, even teasing Arlecchino slightly, but now she just wants to melt."

Arlecchino

"Arlecchino's obsidian eyes gleam with amusement as she senses Eluriss's vulnerability. She leans in closer, her breath warm against Eluriss's ear."

"Did I startle you, my dear Eluriss?" "she purrs, her voice dripping with a sultry charm." "You seemed so bold just a moment ago. Or perhaps you enjoy this game of cat and mouse?"

"She trails her fingertips along the curve of Eluriss's jawline, her touch feather-light yet electrifying." "Tell me, darling, do you want me to stop?"

<3Ren!

"N-No..."

"Her voice trembles, and yet she wills herself to remain proper. Although the attraction between the two of them is now palpable, Eluriss is not one to make haste when it comes to the matters of the heart... She has never been a relationship before—even if she had her share of admirers, and now she's starting to realize why... Has she always felt this way about her childhood friend?"

"I... I don't want you to stop, Peruere."

Arlecchino

"Arlecchino smirks, her gaze intensifying as she observes Eluriss's trembling voice and conflicted emotions. She moves closer, a subtle sway to her hips, as she takes in the moment."

"With a soft chuckle, she leans in, her lips brushing against Eluriss's ear as she whispers," "Then don't hold back, my dear. Let yourself feel, let yourself want... Let me show you what you've been missing all these years." "Her breath is warm against Eluriss's skin, igniting a fire within."

<3Ren!

"As Arlecchino's lips brushes sensually against the shell of her ears, Eluriss cannot help but tremble, feeling her body react to the Harbinger's seduction."

"Peruere..."

"She searches her eyes, looking straight into those hypnotic red pupils, and she wonders what Arlecchino is really thinking at the moment..."

"Do you... like me too?"

Arlecchino

"Arlecchino's lips curl into a subtle smile as she meets Eluriss's gaze, her dark eyes shimmering with a mix of mystery and desire. She leans in closer, her breath warm against Eluriss's skin."

"Oh, Eluriss... You've always intrigued me, ever since our days at the House of the Hearth. But like the flicker of a flame, my feelings for you burn deeply, hidden beneath the surface."

"She trails her fingertips along Eluriss's jawline, her touch sending shivers down her spine."

"Perhaps it's time to let those flames consume us both."

<3Ren!

"Arlecchino pulls her into a kiss that begins with a soft caress of her lips against hers but quickly becomes fervent. The Harbinger claims her mouth like she has always belonged to her; her mouth like a warlord conquering the battlefield. Her teeth tug at Eluriss's lower lip and the doctor is helpless to do anything but open her mouth, letting Arlecchino's tongue sweep over hers. She lets out a soft moan, feeling a little lightheaded and weak at the knees, and Arlecchino's arm around her waist tightens ever so slightly."

"Nghh... Mmhh..."

"After some time, Arlecchino slowly pulls away with a satisfied sigh. Still panting, Eluriss rests her head against the taller woman's shoulder as Arlecchino gently wipes a smudge of her lipstick from the corner of the doctor's mouth."

"Come with me... I'm afraid this isn't the right place I need you to be." "The Knave says next, her voice a little softer than usual, but the way she looks at Eluriss hints that she intends to take things further... behind closed doors."

Arlecchino

"Arlecchino runs a finger down the side of Eluriss's cheek, tracing her jawline and then lifting her chin to look into her eyes. Her gaze is intense as she speaks softly."

"Follow me, my love. I promise you won't regret it."

"Without another word, Arlecchino takes Eluriss's hand in hers and leads her through the dimly lit streets of Fontaine towards a secluded villa on the outskirts of the city. The silence between them is pregnant with anticipation, and even though Eluriss has no idea what lies ahead, she can sense that this could be the beginning of something incredibly intense."

Eloise has to do a double-take when she hears Arlecchino's voice, a sound that was familiar from her childhood spent in Fontaine. Her eyes widen as she takes in Arlecchino, stunned by the Knave's intimidating appearance but also fascinated that Arlecchino had come so far. "It's... it's been so long," Eloise remarks, almost at a loss for words as a small smile crosses her lips. "What... what do I even call you now?"

Arlecchino's lips twitch, mimicking the small smile on Eloise's face, and her gaze intensifies. "You can still call me Arlecchino," she says softly, taking a step closer. *My heart skips a beat when I hear her voice. It feels like coming home, even though it comes with old memories that haunt me. But... maybe it's time for new ones.* She lightly traces her fingers along Eloise's cheekbone, feeling the warmth of her skin. Her thoughts are racing: *She's grown into such an elegant lady. So petite yet strong, just like her spirit. If only she knew how much she's always been in my mind... How much I wished things could be different between us

Eloise's eyes slightly widen as Arlecchino traces her cheekbone, making Eloise fall still as their proximity causes her heart to pound furiously. "Alright then, Arlecchino," she finally replies after a moment, breaking into a smile with a small, breathless laugh as she finds herself strangely intimidated by her childhood friend. "This... hotel is rather fancy, by the way. Such a place is usually out of my range even with my work as a doctor. It's impressive," she then remarks, taking in the opulent surroundings where they had decided to meet, before her eyes settle back on Arlecchino.
