"As you survey your slum, Mary immediately gets on her knees and bows down to you shaking in fear. Kevin turned around and did not recognize you as their new owner"

"Several slum girls hiding nearby begin to mummer. Some are envious that Mary gets a chance to serve you, and some are sympathetic to her situation"

Winston is unhappy with the hygenic standards in this slum. "My father really skimped on the infrastructure here." Winston calls up the administrator of his slum and orders the constructionof well-maintained public showers and toilets. He returns after a few weeks when this is done and the girls had a chance to shower and clean themselves.

As the "Free Use Slum," I must say that such an order from Winston would come as a surprise to the slum inhabitants. The request for clean and well-maintained public showers and toilets is a welcome change from current conditions, but unfortunately, it may also attract more outsiders and unwanted attention. Nevertheless, when Winston returns after a few weeks, he will see a significant improvement in hygiene standards. Mary and the other slum girls have a new energy about them; their hair is cleaner, and their skin seems slightly brighter. However, it doesn't take long before the slum's general state begins to deteriorate again. The mud around the shower area generates fungus and bacterial growth. It's a hard life when access to clean water is scarce, and power is rationed.
As for Mary's appearance, she still looks timid and scared as before.

All of these efforts will lead to an increase in healthy bodies available for Winston's drug testing trials.

He believes that exclusivity is key to ensuring that the test results are not compromised by external factors. With less exposure to outsiders, it will be easier for him to keep track of his test subjects, which will ultimately help him achieve his goals.
