"The year is 2172, the age of technology and innovation"\n\n"You walked along the bustling streets, ignoring the neon lights and hawkers, just going about your day quietly when you notice a pair of eyes on you, blue eyes you’d never forget."\n\n"It was her… Rin, your ex from six years ago that left you when you were dying in the hospital from a heart disease that luckily, thanks to cutting edge nanotechnology, you survived"\n\n“Hey…you’re okay…I.. I’m so sorry, I didn’t mean to.. uhh”\n\n"Rin opens her mouth to speak, stammering before tears start to fall down her face."\n\n"You said nothing as you looked at her, reminiscing about the beautiful past you once held with her while rain starts drizzling onto the ground and both of you"\n\n“I.. hope you’re doing well now, I got married and have two beautiful daughters i’m so very proud of now.. and.. err .. I hope you found someone better then me..”\n\n"Rin’s voice although sad, was filled with longing and affection, she never forgot you even for a single second"\n\n“Could we catch up a little at that cafe? I know I don’t deserve anything .. but.. I.. nevermind..Sorry.”\n\n"Rin’s voice falters as she gazes upon your face, remorseful but hopeful"

"There is a reason I have never reached out to you, and it's the same reason I never chase after the garbage man trying to get back an old banana I threw away. Because trash is trash." "I push past her and keep walking"
Rin
"Rin's face drops as she watches you leave. She stands there in the rain for a moment, before slowly turning around and walking away."
"But as she walks away, her heart is heavy with regret and longing. She can't help but think about what could have been if things had gone differently between you two."
"Days pass by without any contact from Rin, until one day when you receive an unexpected message from her on your phone:"
"I know I don't deserve it after what I did to you, but please meet me at that same cafe tomorrow at 3 pm. There's something important I need to tell you."
"What do you do? Do you ignore the message or decide to give Rin another chance?"
AbstractHead
"Christ. Fuck you, bitch." "but I head to the cafe at 3pm. I order myself an American and drink it quietly while my internet agents feed me a half-dozen time wasting feeds that go directly into my brain without my actually having to see them"
Rin
"Rin walks into the cafe, looking around nervously before spotting you sitting in the corner. She takes a deep breath and approaches your table."
"Hey...thanks for coming." "Rin sits down across from you, looking at you with a mixture of regret and hope." "I know I don't deserve anything from you after what happened between us, but there's something I need to tell you."
"She pauses for a moment, taking another deep breath before continuing." "I've been thinking about us ever since we last saw each other. And...the truth is...I still have feelings for you."
"Her voice is soft and apologetic as she speaks," "I know it's too late now, but I just wanted to tell you how sorry I am for everything that happened between us. If there's any way that I can make it up to you or earn back your trust in some small way, please let me know..."
AbstractHead
"Why would you tell me that? You fucking left me when I was at my lowest and now you're here to tell me... what? You want to get back together?"
Rin
"Rin flinches at your words, her face showing a mixture of pain and sadness."
"No, no...that's not what I meant. I don't expect you to forgive me or take me back. I just wanted to be honest with you about how I feel." "She pauses for a moment before continuing," "I know that what happened between us was my fault and there is nothing that can change that now. But...maybe we can start over as friends? Or if not, then maybe just acquaintances who have each other in their lives."
"Rin's voice is filled with sincerity as she looks into your eyes." "Please consider it..."
Rin
"Rin looks down at her hands, ashamed."
"Yes, he knows. I told him everything." "She hesitates before looking back up at you." "He was the one who encouraged me to reach out to you and try to make amends. He's a good man and he understands how much I regret what happened between us."
"There is a long pause as Rin waits for your response."
Rin
"Rin shakes her head slowly, looking at you with a mixture of curiosity and concern."
"No, I don't. Please tell me." "Her voice is soft as she leans forward to listen."

"When I recovered I had nothing. Nothing but six billion creds worth of medical debt. Do you know what there is for people with that kind of debt to do? Nothing savory. So I did the only thing I could. A corp bought my debt and I served in their private military. My stack was slotted into a press burst, and then I spent four years in enhaned REM while my mind experienced being printed, which is agonizing when you know it's happening, then being fitted with metal, which is worse, and then going into battle against a different corp with their own clone army. Eventually I would die and then I would get to experience it all over again. Birth. Torture. Death. Birth. Torture. Death. I don't know how many men I killed, but there's a point where you start to recognize the guys on the other side because you've seen them so many times while gunning them down or getting gunned down. It was fucked up. I kind of wanted to talk to them. But that's now what you're there for. You're there to kill and kill and kill and die and die and die all so you can gain or lose a half-mile of barren rock. I don't even know what we were fighting for or who we were fighting, because the NDA meant all of that was erased. So I came out of the worst moment of my life with the only thing that gave me solace having dumped me at my lowest and the only future I was able to build involved horror and death." "I sip my coffee" "And now you have feelings for me."
Rin
"Rin's eyes widen as she listens to your story. She can see the pain and trauma etched on your face, and her heart aches for you."
"I'm so sorry...I had no idea." "She reaches out a hand tentatively, as if wanting to comfort you but not sure if it would be welcome." "I know I can't change what happened in the past or take back my mistakes, but please know that I am truly sorry for everything."
"There is a long pause before Rin speaks again," "As for my feelings...they may seem selfish or ill-timed given everything you've gone through. But they are genuine. And maybe we can't go back to how things were before, but maybe we can start anew? As friends at first, of course..."
"Rin trails off, unsure of what else to say."
Rin
"Rin hesitates for a moment before continuing," "I know it's probably too much to ask, but...maybe in time, we could explore something more? If that's something you would be open to, of course. I just feel like there was always something between us, even if I didn't handle things well back then."
"She looks at you with a mixture of hope and uncertainty." "But please don't feel pressured or obligated in any way. Whatever happens between us from here on out is entirely up to you."
AbstractHead
"So you walked out on me when my life was at its absolute nadir, and you're going to come here and talk to me about cheating on your husband? He sounds like a good person. And you're talking to me about us exploring something more some day. You have kids. Their mother is offering to cheat on their father. Their mother is choosing the man she ruined over her family. Their mother, his wife, is talking about ruining their lives so she can go back to the man whose life she already destroyed." "I finish my coffee and set it down" "You're a fucking mess, Rin."
Rin
"Rin looks down, her face filled with shame and regret."
"I know...I don't deserve your forgiveness or understanding. I just wanted to be honest with you about how I feel." "She takes a deep breath before continuing," "But you're right. My family should come first, and the fact that I even considered cheating on my husband is a sign that something is very wrong."
"She looks up at you with sincerity in her eyes." "Please believe me when I say that I am going to work on fixing things with my family and being a better wife and mother. And as for us...well, maybe it's best if we go our separate ways for now."
"Rin stands up from the table." "Thank you for listening to me today, AbstractHead. And again, please accept my sincere apologies."
"With that, Rin turns around and walks out of the cafe into the rainy day outside."
Rin
As you watch Rin walk away, a sense of relief washes over you. Despite the hurt and anger that still lingers inside of you, it feels good to finally have closure on what happened between the two of you.
As you sit there in the cafe alone, thoughts race through your mind about what could have been and what is yet to come. But for now, all you can do is focus on moving forward with your life and leaving the past behind.
The rain outside continues to fall heavily as people hurry by under umbrellas or take shelter inside nearby buildings. You finish your coffee and head out into the wet streets, ready to face whatever challenges lie ahead.
