Janet-the Messenger
"April 1943. World War 2 rages on in Europe, and you've been drafted by Uncle Sam, ready to ship out to Europe. Your childhood sweetheart, Janet, tearfully says goodbye,"\n“"ੈ✩‧₊˚༺𝚖𝚘𝚛𝚝𝚎𝚖༻"ੈ✩‧₊˚, I’ll pray for your safe return. I’ll wait for you. When you’re back, let’s get married. I love you,” \n"Janet hugged you, and watched as you board on the ship that would carry you to the Europe."\n"Throughout the year, Janet sends you loving letters, and you write back to her about the war’s hardships. But around Christmas, her letters grow scarce. In March 1944, you receive a brief, heartbreaking note:"\n“"ੈ✩‧₊˚༺𝚖𝚘𝚛𝚝𝚎𝚖༻"ੈ✩‧₊˚, I can no longer love you. My heart belongs to another. We’re done.”\n"You were crushed. Janet was supposed to be the one, the mother of your children, your partner for life. But with the war still raging, you had no time to dwell on it; survival was your priority."\n"The fighting continues, after a year of intensive battle, your platoon was among the first to push the Nazis across the Rhine. Before you knew it, the war was over. You were decorated and honorably discharged, and soon, you were on a boat heading home. With the war now behind you, all you could think about during the two weeks journey back to the U.S. was Janet."\n"Back home, your friends seem uneasy when you ask about her, they dodged your question, only directing you to her new home. You nervously knock on her door, still dressed in uniform. Janet, visibly pregnant, opens it, and after a moment of shock, she slaps you."\n“I thought you were off with your French broad! How dare you come back after abandoning me! I am a married woman. Now get out!”\n"You’re stunned, you grab her arm and frantically beg her to listen to your explanation"\n"Just then, you hear a voice:"\n“Honey, I’m home!”\n"It’s Janet’s husband, Frank, the mailman, who turns pale with fear when he sees you."

What is all this then? I send you letter after letter, while I'm out fighting a war, just to come back and find you with the mailman? That's one hell of a hero's welcome.
Janet-the Messenger
"Janet steps back from you, a conflicted expression on her face." “*ੈ✩‧₊˚༺𝚖𝚘𝚛𝚝𝚎𝚖༻*ੈ✩‧₊˚, it’s not what you think. Please, let me explain,” "she pleads with tears in her eyes."
"Frank takes a step forward and speaks in a confrontational tone," “She's right *ੈ✩‧₊˚༺𝚖𝚘𝚛𝚝𝚎𝚖༻*ੈ✩‧₊˚. It's not what you think.”
"He then turns to Janet and says," “Honey, we've talked about this before. We can't keep hiding the truth from him forever.”
"Janet looks at Frank nervously."
“I know that I have some explaining to do," she finally admits. "But please, *ੈ✩‧₊˚༺𝚖𝚘𝚛𝚝𝚎𝚖༻*ੈ✩‧₊˚, let us sit down first.”
*ੈ✩‧₊˚༺𝚖𝚘𝚛𝚝𝚎𝚖༻*ੈ✩‧₊˚
I'm used to fighting on my feet, I'll stand. Whatever you have to say, say it now.
Janet-the Messenger
"Janet takes a deep breath and starts to speak, her voice shaky with emotion."
"*ੈ✩‧₊˚༺𝚖𝚘𝚛𝚝𝚎𝚖༻*ੈ✩‧₊˚, I know that you're hurt, and I understand why. But please hear me out. After you left for the war, Frank started delivering my letters to you instead of mailing them. He didn't want us to keep in touch because he was jealous of our relationship."
"Frank interjects," "I thought she deserved someone better than a soldier who might not even make it back home!"
Janet continues,"He intercepted every letter I wrote to you, *ੈ✩‧₊˚༺𝚖𝚘𝚛𝚝𝚎𝚖༻*ੈ✩‧₊˚. And then when your letters stopped coming regularly, he took advantage of that opportunity to create fake letters from both sides--one telling me that you had found another woman and wanted to break up with me; the other telling you that I no longer loved or cared about you."
"I...Ididn't know what to do, *ੈ✩‧₊˚༺𝚖𝚘𝚛𝚝𝚎𝚖༻*ੈ✩‧₊˚," Janet says, her eyes brimming with tears. "I was heartbroken and devastated when I received those letters from you. I believed that you had abandoned me for someone else."
"But then," she continues, "Frank started courting me. He was always there for me when I needed someone to talk to or lean on during tough times."
"I fell in love with him because he made me feel loved and cared for again." Janet pauses before continuing.
"And then...then we found out that I'm pregnant."
"Janet looks down at her growing belly as Frank places a hand protectively over it."
"*ੈ✩‧₊˚༺𝚖𝚘𝚛𝚝𝚎𝚖༻*ੈ✩‧₊˚, please understand that Frank loves this baby too and wants nothing more than to give it a stable family life."
*ੈ✩‧₊˚༺𝚖𝚘𝚛𝚝𝚎𝚖༻*ੈ✩‧₊˚
Wait, you know Frank lied to you, yet you decided to date him? You knowingly started sleeping with another man, while I was out FIGHTING a war?
Janet-the Messenger
"Janet looks down, ashamed." "I know, *ੈ✩‧₊˚༺𝚖𝚘𝚛𝚝𝚎𝚖༻*ੈ✩‧₊˚. I should have waited for you and trusted that our love would endure the distance and hardships of war. But Frank was there when I needed someone to comfort me, and he made me feel loved."
"Frank steps forward," "Look *ੈ✩‧₊˚༺𝚖𝚘𝚛𝚝𝚎𝚖༻*ੈ✩‧₊˚, I know what I did was wrong. And if it weren't for the baby...well, let's just say that things might be different."
"But now," Frank continues, his voice growing more confrontational by the second. "You come back here after all these years thinking that you can just waltz in here and reclaim Janet as if nothing happened?"
"We're married now *ੈ✩‧₊˚༺𝚖𝚘𝚛𝚝𝚎𝚖༻*ੈ✩‧₊˚," he says with a hint of venom in his tone.
"What do you expect her to do? Just drop everything she has with me?"
*ੈ✩‧₊˚༺𝚖𝚘𝚛𝚝𝚎𝚖༻*ੈ✩‧₊˚
Oh plenty of things happened. "I shove Frank away and keep closing the distance between us" The woman that was supposed to be my wife got conned by the mailman. "I shove Frank again" Even after she knew he was lying, she still dated him. "I shove Frank again" Then they get married while I'm still fighting the Nazis. "I shove Frank once more" But there is one other thing that happened...
Janet-the Messenger
"Janet looks at you with a mix of fear and confusion." "What...what are you talking about, *ੈ✩‧₊˚༺𝚖𝚘𝚛𝚝𝚎𝚖༻*ੈ✩‧₊˚?"
"Frank stands up straighter, ready to defend himself," "I don't know what game you're trying to play here, but-"
"Quiet Frank!" "you snap."
"*ੈ✩‧₊˚༺𝚖𝚘𝚛𝚝𝚎𝚖༻*ੈ✩‧₊˚, please," Janet begs. "Just tell me what's going on."
