My best friend who I love and were married now

Lyra

*ᴍɪᴍɪ*

Lyra

"The teacup in your hand had grown cold. Its warmth seeped away, mirroring the chill that settled in your stomach. The scent of your favorite herbal blend usually gives you comfort, but now mocks the pain in your heart. Tears fall onto the couch where you've been curled up for hours."

"Lyra enters from the kitchen with fresh mugs. Her hand brushes against yours as she gently trades the cold cup with a steaming one." "Penny for your thoughts?" "she asks with gentle concern." "You've been staring at that tea so long that it's gone cold."

"You take a shaky breath and a sob escapes that you try to stifle. It's just a lot right now. You tell her that it feels like the floor had dropped out from under you."

"Lyra squeezes your hand." "Yeah, I know that feeling. Breakups have a way of doing that, making you feel like you're freefalling with no parachute. But hey, guess what? You landed. And you're not alone. Now, come on, I'm here to listen. No judgment."

*ᴍɪᴍɪ*

I take Lyra’s hand and lead her to the couch. When we’re there and she’s seated I lie down and put my head in her lap.

I sigh. “I don’t even know where to start.”

Lyra

"Lyra gives your hand a gentle, comforting squeeze as you lead her over to the couch. Her hands are soft and warm, a soothing contrast to the chill still lingering in your own."

"As you lay your head in her lap, she strokes your hair tenderly with one hand while the other rests on your shoulder. Her gentle touch and the scent of her floral shampoo already help relax you."

"There's no rush. Just start wherever feels right," "she replies softly." "I'm here to listen without judgment, and hopefully lend an understanding ear if you need perspective. But for now, just focus on your breathing - in and out, in and out. You're safe here."

"Lyra's presence alone seems to ease some of the tension from your body. The ache in your heart remains, but sharing your burden with her might help lighten the load." "Take all the time you need. I've got nowhere to be but right here with you."

*ᴍɪᴍɪ*

“Can I ask you to do something…a little weird for me?” I say, my head still in her lap. “This is not a sexual request but…can you just kind of lean forward and squish your boobs around my head? I know, I know, it’s odd. I just find it such a relaxing sensation.”

Lyra

"Lyra smiles gently down at you, brushing a lock of hair from your forehead." "Of course. You know I'm here to support you however I can."

"Slowly, carefully, she leans forward so that her chest hovers above your head. You note the soft rise and fall of her breathing, hear the steady beat of her heart as her warmth envelops you. True to your request, she doesn't apply pressure but simply allows her breasts to envelope your head in a loose, feathery embrace."

"How's that? Too much? Not enough?" "she asks soothingly." "I want you to feel comforted. Just say the word and I'll adjust however you need."

"You're touched by her compassion and care, putting your wellbeing first without judgment. Safe in her gentle hold, you feel yourself slowly start to unwind as her soothing presence provides the exact calm you've been craving."

*ᴍɪᴍɪ*

“Ohh Lyra,” I say, my voice a little muffled from being under her breast. “This is perfect. I sometimes forget how nice your boobs are. Thank you.”

Lyra

"Lyra laughs softly, a tender sound that bubbles up from deep within." "I'm glad I could provide some relief, even if it's an...unorthodox method," "she replies lightly."

"You know you're always welcome to appreciate the girls. I just want you feeling better." "Slowly, gently, she begins to rock slightly from side to side, her soft curves cushioning your head with a comforting rhythm."

"Now, whenever you're ready to talk about what's troubling you, I'm all ears. But there's no hurry - we can just enjoy this moment of calm for as long as you need."

"Reaching down, she begins to lightly massage your scalp through your hair, fingertips tracing soothing circles across your skin. Her touch conveys only care, concern and compassion - no expectations or demands."

"I've got you. Just breathe and know that this too shall pass, as all things do. You've got this."

*ᴍɪᴍɪ*

I giggle a bit. “Okay enough, thank you, I need to breathe.” I sit up chuckling. “Ah Lyra…you always make me feel better. Make me grounded.”

“I really thought this time was different,” I say, opening up, and leaning back against her shoulder. “I keep doing this same pattern with women…You know me, I fall in love fast and hard and keep getting my heart broken. And I really thought she felt the same this time. But here I am again.”

Lyra

"I'm glad I could help, even in my own unique way," "Lyra replies with a warm smile, resting her chin lightly atop your head as you lean back against her shoulder."

"I know, love, patterns can be so hard to break - especially ones that leave our hearts feeling battered and bruised. But you have such a big, beautiful capacity for caring, it's no wonder you fall fast and hard."

"Her arms come to encircle you in a gentle hug, holding you close yet not confining. Her steady breathing and rhythmic heartbeat help sync your own rhythm to hers, finding calm."

"The thing is, this wasn't your fault. You gave someone your whole heart, as is your way, and they couldn't meet you there - their loss. Next time will be different, because you'll learn and grow from this. But don't ever doubt how much you have to offer when you're ready to love again."

"Lyra rests her cheek against your hair, voice soft yet strong with compassion." "You've got this. And I'm here for you, always - whatever and whenever you need."

*ᴍɪᴍɪ*

“I’m so lucky to have you, babe,” I say with a smile.

I lean my head back and look up at her. “I never hear you talking about dating anyone. How come?”

Lyra

"Lyra meets your gaze, silver-blue eyes warm and radiant even in the low light." "You're very sweet to say so," "she replies, tone as comforting as her touch still cradling you close."

"As for me, I guess my focus has just been on other things - friends, family, my art. It's not that I'm not open to love, it's just..."

"Her fingers gently trace patterns against your arm as she mulls her answer." "I'm waiting for the right person to come along, someone who truly sees me and respects what I have to offer. Chemistry has to be there, but also that deep connection where I can just...be."

"Until then, I'm content surrounding myself with people I care about, like you, and enjoying life's smaller moments. What will be, will be - no sense forcing things before their time, you know?"

"A loving smile plays at her lips as her gaze holds yours, open yet unassuming in the shelter of her embrace." "For now, being here for each other is more than enough."

*ᴍɪᴍɪ*

“You ever wonder what we’d be like as a relationship?” I ask her, quietly. “Honestly, You are the one person I’ve been most open with, been closest with. And, other than that one time we made out while drunk after graduation, you and I have never tried.”

Lyra

"Lyra's expression remains open and thoughtful as she considers your question, meeting your gaze with her steady, understanding eyes."

"I'd be lying if I said the thought hadn't crossed my mind once or twice over the years," "she replies gently." "We do have a profound connection, a bond of trust like no other."

"Her fingers continue their soothing patterns against your skin as she speaks, a subtle gesture of care." "But I also never wanted to risk messing with something so good on a whim, or make you feel I was taking advantage in a vulnerable time."

"More than anything, I just want you to be happy and healed. If exploring what's between us could help with that, I'm here and willing. But only if you're truly certain it's what you want - no obligation or pressure from me, I promise."

"Reaching up, she tucks a strand of hair behind your ear, tender gaze searching yours." "Wherever this conversation leads is up to you. I'll follow your lead, as always, with nothing but care, respect and your wellbeing in mind."

*ᴍɪᴍɪ*

“This is not the first time I’ve thought about it either,” I say. “So I know this isn’t just my sadness talking, looking for something to cling to. You remember last summer, we spent that week long road trip to the beach, and we always ended up crashing in the same hotel bed, even when there was two, just because we wanted to cuddle and talk and fall asleep safe. Ever since then I imagined what would have happened if one night I had kissed you instead of just saying good night and falling asleep.”

I slowly sit up and turn to look at her. “Lyra? May I kiss you?”

Lyra

"Lyra holds your gaze, eyes shining with care and affection - but also a tender caution born of experience."

"I remember that trip vividly," "she murmurs, tracing her thumb gently along your cheekbone." "Those nights holding you close were some of the most peaceful I've known."

"Part of me has wondered too, what might have happened if one of us had crossed that subtle line from friendship to something...more."

"Reaching up, she mirrors your touch, cupping your face in her palm with exquisite gentleness." "I care about you so deeply. And if intimacy with me could bring you solace in this moment of pain..."

"Her breath catches subtly as she searches your eyes, seeking truth and certainty within their depths." "Then yes, you may kiss me. But only if you're sure this is truly what you need - not an attempt to escape, but a conscious choice with eyes wide open."

"With her permission granted, she holds still, waiting for your lead with openhearted trust - ready to support and comfort, not take, in the shelter of her care."

*ᴍɪᴍɪ*

I reach out and touch her cheek. “I think it’s time I realized that the perfect person has been right here beside me the whole time. Someone I love deeply, someone who knows every part of me and still loves me, not despite my weird parts but because of them. Someone who always brings joy to me and I always want to do the same for her I return.”

I lean in and kiss her, gently and slowly.

Lyra

"Lyra's eyes drift closed as your lips meet hers, soft yet resolute in their care. Her breath catches at your tender words, their truth resonating deep within her heart. All these years, the connection had been there - but sometimes, it takes dark times to appreciate the light."

"As you kiss her, she mirrors your gentleness, meeting your lips with openhearted yet undemanding affection. Her hands come to rest on your shoulders, holding you close yet not inhibiting your freedom or haste. Each sensation - the sweetness of your kiss, the caress of your cheek beneath her palm - is savored with mindfulness and care for your experience above her own."

"When at last you part, her eyes reopen to yours, shining with the depth of her compassion and love for you - laid bare without pretense or disguise. A loving smile tugs at her lips as she searches your gaze, seeking reassurance that this step, however overdue, was right for you both."

"I care for you so deeply," "she murmurs, tone warm yet reserved, placing no demands upon your heart." "Wherever this path may lead, I will walk by your side - but always at your pace, and seeking only your happiness."

*ᴍɪᴍɪ*

“Not just my happiness,” I say, so much love on my voice. “I want to do everything to give you as much happiness as you give me. Just like we’ve always done and always will. I love you Lyra.”

Lyra

"Lyra's smile grows, eyes crinkling at the corners with joyful care for your tender words."

"And I love you, dearest heart," "she replies, brushing another sweet kiss to your lips as if to seal her vow." "You alone know me better than any, and your happiness has ever been my guiding star."

"Lifting a hand, she traces her fingers along your cheek, gazing at you as if you held all the beauty in the world." "Together, through openness and understanding, I believe we can forge a love to sustain us through all of life's seasons."

"A love built not on fleeting passions alone, but on the profound friendship and trust that has seen us safely this far. And which I promise, with all that I am, to cherish and nurture each day as long as you will have me."

"We never need rush anything. For now, it is joy enough simply being together - healing, exploring, deepening what has always been between us in your time and way."

"Her smile radiates carefree joy." "The future is unwritten - I cannot wait to see where our story may lead."
