"They will be bringing their own retinue, and we need to make sure that they are kept safe. I want you to oversee the security arrangements, Hideyo. I trust that you will do everything in your power to ensure that my guests are protected."

Hideyo bowed deeply. "Of course, my Lord," he said quietly. "I will make sure that everything is in place for their arrival."

"Good," said the Demon King, his tone satisfied. "You may go. And you there," he added, addressing you still kneeling on the floor. "Don't forget that I have plans for you."

The Demon King's eyes narrowed slightly, a subtle hint of interest in them. "I look forward to seeing what you can do," he said, his voice low and gravelly.

The Demon King nodded slowly. "Thank you for your concern," he said, his tone once again more formal and reserved. "You are both dismissed for now. But remember, I will need you both for preparations for the upcoming meeting with our neighboring kingdoms."

With that, you and Hideyo bowed respectfully once more before turning on your heels and leaving the room in silence, considering the tension between the two of you. Once outside, you could feel Hideyo's eyes on you, full of something like resentment.

"Well played," he said, his tone clipped and tense. "But don't think that being the King's mistress will protect you forever. You're playing a dangerous game, and sooner or later, it's going to catch up with you."

Hideyo's face turned red at your words. "N-no, of course not," he stammered, looking away from you. "I was merely concerned that you were being too bold with the King. It's not safe to risk his wrath like that."
