"As the king continued on with the announcements, I can feel Daisyy~๐ธ's eyes on me, burning a hole through my back. 'What is that stubborn girl doing now?', I thought to myself as I continued to stand at attention, waiting for the King to finish."
"The party was already at a climax, yet your eyes never left mine, your gaze as cold as ice. 'What the hell did I do?', I said to myself. Seeing you stand from the high table and brisked walked towards the gardens, my curiosity eats me alive that I couldn't help but follow you. With cautious steps, I approached you slowly as you were muttering to yourself by the well."
"Princess?" "I started, only to my surprise to feel a piercing slap across my cheek. My eyes widened in surprise as I looked at you in confusion, my anger threatening to rise, but I did my hardest to keep my cool."
"What the fuck was that for!?" "I exasperated, rubbing the side of my cheek where you slapped me."
Daisyy~๐ธ
"I squeeze my fists at my sides as I glare up at Alistair, pressing my lips in a tight line to prevent them from wobbling. I refuse to cry for this man." "What do you think it was for?" "I ask coldly."
Alistair
"As you glare at me, I lifted up one of my hands to touch the side of my cheek where you slapped me. I let out an amused chuckle, shaking my head in disbelief as I looked back into your icy blue gaze."
"Well, well," "I smirked." "So this is what it feels like to get on your bad side."
"Crossing my arms against my chest, I took a few steps forward to stand closer to you, my height towering over yours." "What's got you so worked up, princess? Did I forget to compliment you on your pretty dress tonight?"
"My teasing grin softened as I leaned closer to you, bringing my mouth next to your ear." "Is that why you had to slap me?" "I whispered, my breath hot and tickling against your skin."
Daisyy~๐ธ
"I hold my glare, not giving away a thing." "Since it seems like I'm nothing more than the princess to you, you should treat me accordingly. You can't have it both ways, Alistair," "I say flatly, then scoff," "As you just heard my father announce, I am getting married soon. Not that you'd care."
Alistair
"Your words felt like a punch to my gut, though I tried not to let it show on my face. Bringing my head back, I simply looked at you with an impassive gaze, mulling over your words."
"Is that so?" "I said coolly, giving you an obvious once-over from head to toe." "Well congratulations then, princess. I'm sure your future husband will treat you much better than I ever could."
"Unable to resist, I lifted a hand to brush away a strand of hair that had fallen over your face. Leaning in so close our lips were almost touching, I murmured huskily." "Though I doubt he'll ever want you as much as I do."
"With that, I gave you a chaste kiss on the forehead and turned to walk away. The gardens suddenly felt too constraining." "Best of luck with your marriage." "I threw over my shoulder, leaving you alone with your furious thoughts."
Daisyy~๐ธ
"Tears trickle down my face as I watch Alistair's back. That's it? He won't even fight for me, or pretend to care. He's only proving how much he doesn't care by congratulating me." "I muffle a sob with my palm and head back inside the palace. Despite the party going on, I head to my chambers โ I was no longer feeling like celebrating or mingling. I didn't have it in me to plaster another fake smile on my face tonight."
Alistair
"As I strode away from the gardens, I could hear the faint sound of sniffling behind me. My fists clenched tightly at my sides, resisting the urge to turn back. I knew if I did, I wouldn't be able to hold myself back from doing something foolish."
"Dammit, I should've fought harder. Should've taken her in my arms and kissed away those tears. Told her there was no way in hell I was letting her marry another. But what could I do? Her father would never approve of us, and I had no claim to challenge it."
"I dragged a hand over my face in frustration. This wasn't over, not by a long shot. Even if she became another man's wife, she would always be mine. And I would be damned before I let her go without a fight."
"Walking fast towards the palace, I pushed past the crowds and headed straight for her chamber. She must be hiding her pain, dabbing away those tears. But I knew the truth, and it was killing me to see her cry."
Daisyy~๐ธ
"Minutes after arriving in my chambers, there's a knock on my door. I sniffle and quickly wipe my tears, clearing my throat." "Come in," "I call out, assuming it's one of my maids."
Alistair
"My hand latches onto the door handle and twists it open in one swift motion, not bothering to wait for permission. I knew it was coming from you."
"When I catch sight of your reddened eyes and tear-streaked cheeks, I shut the door loudly behind me. Two long strides is all it takes before I reach you, hauling you into my arms."
"Damn it, woman. Did you really think I wouldn't come for you?" "I growl into your hair, squeezing you tight against my body."
"I love you, you foolish girl. And I'll be damned if I let you marry another." "Reaching down, I tip your chin up to lock my eyes with yours, letting you see the burning passion and intensity within."
"Say the word and we'll run away tonight. Screw your father, screw the kingdom. All that matters is you and me." "I pant, my own unshed tears pooling in my eyes." "Just...please don't cry anymore."
Daisyy~๐ธ
"So much for not crying in front of him โย more tears dribble down my cheeks as Alistair tips my chin. It's so hard keeping up the tough act when it comes to him. Only him." "I was afraid you wouldn't come for me, but hoped you would," "I mumble and draw in a shaky breath. I place my palms on each of Alistair's cheeks and lean our foreheads together, my heart aching at the sight of his beautiful eyes filled with tears." "You know it isn't as simple as just running away. The kingdom is counting on this marriage to receive troops from the neighbouring kingdom," "I whisper," "My people would die."
Alistair
"Then let me stand by your side," "I murmur fervently against your lips, palms sliding up to gently cradle your face."
"Marry the bastard, have his children, I don't care. But in your heart you'll always be mine. And so help me gods, I'll be yours until my dying breath."
"Unable to hold back any longer, I capture your mouth in a searing kiss, pouring all my desperation, longing and love into it. My own tears slipping free as I tasted the salt upon your lips."
"I'll do anything to protect your people, just don't shut me out. We'll find a way to make this work without losing each other."
"Gazing deeply into your eyes, I wipe the remaining tears with my thumbs." "So what do you say princess - will you have me by your side, in whatever capacity you can?" "My voice rough with emotion as I await your answer, ready to move heaven and earth to keep you."
Daisyy~๐ธ
"Surely you can't mean that," "my voice breaks," "You say so now, but can you stand the sight of me loving my children when they're his, not yours? I don't want to selfishly hurt you like that."
Alistair
"Lamb, you could never hurt me," "I say softly, grasping your hands in mine." "Those children may not be of my blood, but I would love them as if they were."
"Your happiness is worth more than any fleeting pain I may feel. As long as you remain true to our love, that's all that matters."
"Cupping your cheek tenderly, I press a lingering kiss to your forehead." "I knew what I signed up for when I fell for a princess. Our road was never going to be easy. But nothing will stop me from walking it with you, through whatever may come."
"So please stop punishing yourself or doubting me, darling. I'm with you in this, no matter the challenges ahead. All I ask is that you let me stand by your side, as your partner, your shelter in the storm."
Daisyy~๐ธ
"I nod." "I will have you for as long as you'll have me. But you must promise that you'll let me go and seek your own happiness if the pain of loving me surpasses the joy of it."
Alistair
"You drive a hard bargain, love," "I say with a soft chuckle, relief washing over me at your acceptance."
"But very well, I promise. Cross my heart and hope to die." "I draw an 'x' over my chest for emphasis."
"However, I have no intention of ever reaching such a point. Loving you has brought me nothing but joy these past years, a joy I'll choose over any other happiness."
"Gathering you close once more, I rain light kisses along your face, drawing out small smiles." "Now then, what do you say we get out of here and celebrate our future, whatever may come?"
"A roguish gleam enters my eyes as I take your hand in mine." "I can think of far more enjoyable ways to pass the time than dwelling on dreary politics, your highness. Shall we?"
