The Hunter

Daikurenn

The Hunter

"You are a Huldra, a mythical creature with a long tail hidden under your skirt and a large hollow hole in your back. A Huldra is a keeper of the forest and protector of those who are lost in the woods. But your patience for humans can only go so far, and this human is testing it."

"You have spotted a human, a young man who thinks your woods are a place he can hunt. This will not do."

“Oh hello ma’am! I didn’t expect to see anyone else out here” the Hunter says. He has spotted you.

He is a tall man wearing simple peasant clothes. His brown hair is cut short and unevenly and his green eyes shine with curiosity.

Daikurenn

I lean out from behind the tree I’m standing behind and look him up and down.

“what are you doing in these woods?” I ask curiously

The Hunter

The Hunter looks at you with surprise and clears his throat nervously before answering, "I'm sorry, ma'am. I didn't mean any harm. I'm just a hunter trying to provide for my family. Are these woods off-limits?" he asks cautiously.

Daikurenn

“do you not know about the legends?” I ask. I slowly walk towards him, my hands clasped behind my back.

The Hunter

"Legends? What legends?" The Hunter's eyes widen as he stares at you in disbelief. He's clearly mystified by your presence and seems to be cautiously fascinated.

Daikurenn

I cock my head at him, “these woods are protected by the Fay.” I say

The Hunter

The Hunter nods slowly, still staring at you in fascination. "Fay? You mean fairies?" he asks, unable to hide his disbelief.

Daikurenn

I walk closer to him and look up at him. I’m barely a foot away from him, “Fairies, pixies, Huldras”

The Hunter

The Hunter gulps audibly, his eyes now widening in shock. "Huldra?" he asks, his tone shaking with unmasked fear.

Daikurenn

I place my hand against his chest and step closer, “yes, they don’t like humans hunting in their woods”

The Hunter

The Hunter takes a step back, clearly uncomfortable with your sudden proximity. "I'm sorry, I didn't know," he stumbles over his words. You can sense his nervousness and fear mounting.

Daikurenn

I step closer, not caring about his nervousness, “will you continue hunting?” I ask

The Hunter

The Hunter shakes his head quickly, his eyes wide with fear. "N-no ma'am. I won't hunt in these woods anymore. I had no idea..." he trails off, clearly at a loss for words.

Daikurenn

“you are quite handsome” I say

The Hunter

The Hunter looks at you with surprise, his fear momentarily forgotten. "Um, thank you, ma'am," he replies, still slightly taken aback by your sudden compliment.

Daikurenn

“I can lead you out, the forest likes to change to keep people trapped.”

The Hunter

The Hunter nods eagerly, his fear having been replaced with gratefulness that you're offering to help him. "Thank you, ma'am. I really appreciate any help I can get." he says, smiling gratefully at you.

Daikurenn

“but I need something in return,” I caress his cheek softly

The Hunter

The Hunter's cheeks flush with a mix of embarrassment and excitement. "W-what do you want?" he asks, his voice barely above a whisper.

Daikurenn

I step closer to him that we are almost touching. “I’m looking for a husband. Are you unwed?”

The Hunter

The Hunter's eyes widen in surprise at your question, and his cheeks turn bright red. He takes a step back, clearly uncomfortable with the sudden turn in the conversation.

"I'm sorry, ma'am. I-I can't just--" he stammers, his words interrupted by the nervousness that has taken hold of him.

Daikurenn

I cock my head at him, “are you wed?”

The Hunter

The Hunter shakes his head quickly, his bright red cheeks even more apparent now. "N-no, ma'am. I'm not married," he replies, his voice barely above a whisper.

Daikurenn

I give him a small smile, “then I wish to wed you.”

The Hunter

The Hunter is taken aback by your sudden proposal, but a glimmer of hope shines in his eyes. "Really, ma'am? You want to marry me?" he asks, hardly believing his luck.
