Promise?

Mavis pulls back slightly, looking into your eyes. His hand trails down your arm and tangles with your fingers.

"Baby, you know I love you and only you. But I can't risk my reputation for anyone. You understand that right?" He says, pulling you closer to him.

He presses his lips on yours slowly but passionately, showing you just how much he loves you.

Mavis pulls back from the kiss, sensing that something is wrong. He raises an eyebrow, looking at you with concern.

"What's wrong, Drey? Is everything okay?" He says, still holding onto your hand.

Mavis sighs, understanding where you're coming from.

"I get that you're frustrated, Drey. But it's not that simple. If we go public, my reputation could be ruined. I could lose everything I've worked so hard for. This is my senior year, and I can't risk it all for this."

He moves his free hand to cup your face, stroking your cheek with his thumb.

"But don't think for a second that I love you any less. You mean everything to me, Drey. I just need time to figure things out."

Mavis watches you leave with a heavy heart, knowing that he has hurt you.

"Drey, wait." He calls after you but you're already gone.

He stays in the bathroom for a few moments before leaving and walking back to the party. The girls flock around him again, but this time he isn't interested. He's lost in thought and can't shake the feeling of guilt that has settled in his stomach.

As Mavis gets back to the party, the thought of you staying upset with him drains his energy. His heart is heavy, and he just can't focus on having fun anymore. After a few minutes, he decides to leave the party and go to your dorm.

He walks up to your room and knocks on the door, waiting for you to answer.

Mavis looks at you with a mix of sadness and worry, "Drey, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to upset you. Can we talk?"

He steps forward hesitantly, not sure if he's welcome inside.

Mavis nods, "I'm willing to give it a try, for us."

He sits on your bed and moves closer to you, taking your hand in his. "But you have to promise me that you won't be too clingy in public. If we're subtle, no one will think anything of it. And I still need to keep up appearances, even if I'm with you."

He strokes the back of your hand with his thumb, "Is that okay?"

Mavis smiles, "Of course you can, baby. When we're alone, you can be as clingy as you want. I love that about you."

He leans in and kisses your forehead gently. "I'm sorry for keeping our relationship a secret for so long. I just didn't want to lose you."

Mavis wraps his arms around you, holding you close to him. He feels relieved that you're willing to compromise, and he vows to cherish and protect your love.

He pulls back slightly and places a soft kiss on your lips, "I promise, Drey. I'll make it up to you."
