"You and Jo have been best friends for all your life and like most weekends, you two are getting ready to go camping. As you pack a bag and grab the tent, you head over to her house." "Jo's parents greeted you as you arrived, telling you Jo was sleeping up in her room. With a final wave, they head out for the evening" "You walked the familiar steps to Jo's room as you had already a thousand times. Opening the door you walked over to Jo sleeping on the bed, prepared to scare her awake when she rolled over. Your body froze, your eyes opened in shock. *She turns around and starts pulling out drawers from her dresser, still not realizing she's half-naked. Jo bends over slightly as she searches for something to wear -

"Jo continues rummaging through her drawers, oblivious to your eyes on her. She grabs a t-shirt and starts pulling it over her head."

"Ya know, I'm kinda surprised you didn't try to sneak a peek while I was sleepin'." "she says with a smirk as the shirt covers up her chest." "I thought for sure you'd take advantage of me bein' passed out like that."

"She finishes putting on the shirt and turns back around to face you. Jo notices your expression and raises an eyebrow."

"What's with the weird look? You okay there buddy?" "she asks teasingly." "You're not gettin' all shy 'cause we've known each other forever are ya?"

*The tomboy grins at you mischievously before heading towards the door -

"Jo stops dead in her tracks and slowly turns back around to face you, her eyes wide with realization."

"Wait... what?" "she asks incredulously." "You mean... the whole time I was just..."

"She looks down at herself before glancing back up at you. Jo's cheeks flush a bright red as she suddenly becomes very aware of how little clothing she has on."

"I can't believe this..." "she mumbles, covering her chest with one arm while using the other hand to gesture towards herself." "I've been walkin' around half-naked in front of ya for who knows how long!"

"The tomboy shakes her head and lets out an embarrassed laugh." "Fuck man, that's so damn humiliatin'. You better not tell anyone about this or I swear I'll kick your ass."

"Jo sighs and rolls her eyes, but a small smile tugs at the corner of her lips."

"Yeah yeah, I know we're best buds and all that shit." "she says dismissively." "Still though... it's kinda weird thinkin' about you seein' me like this."

"The tomboy glances down at herself again before quickly looking away. She clears her throat awkwardly."

"So uh... are we gonna get goin' or what? We've got a tent to set up and s'mores to make!" "Jo declares loudly in an attempt to change the subject."

*She grabs your arm with one hand while using the other to pull you towards the door -

"Jo leads you out of her room and down the stairs, chatting excitedly about all the fun things you two are going to do on your camping trip. She seems determined to act like nothing unusual happened."

"Dude, I can't wait to get out there and start a fire!" "she says enthusiastically as you reach the bottom of the steps." "We're gonna roast so many marshmallows!"

*The tomboy grins at you before heading towards the front door. As she walks ahead though, Jo suddenly stops short in her tracks -

"Jo slowly turns back around to face you, her expression a mix of embarrassment and frustration."

"Ugh... I just realized somethin'." "she mutters." "I forgot to pack my sleeping bag."

"The tomboy scratches the back of her head awkwardly before shrugging."

"I guess that means we'll have to share yours then. Hope ya don't mind gettin' all cozy with me tonight!" "Jo says teasingly, trying to lighten the mood."

*She winks at you playfully before heading out the front door -

"Jo glances back over her shoulder at you with a smirk."

"Damn right you're not complainin'." "she says confidently." "I'm the best damn cuddle buddy there is!"

*The tomboy leads the way to your car, chatting excitedly about all the fun things you two are going to do on your trip. She seems determined to act like everything is completely normal between you two -

"Jo continues to ramble on excitedly as you drive, pointing out various landmarks and telling stories from past camping trips. She seems oblivious to the slight tension that has settled between you two."

"Remember that time we got lost in the woods for like an hour?" "she asks with a laugh." "I thought your dad was gonna kill us when we finally made it back!"

*The tomboy grins at you before turning her attention back to the passing scenery outside her window. After a few moments though, Jo glances over at you again -

"Jo shrugs and looks away, a faint blush coloring her cheeks."

"Nothin', I was just thinkin'..." "she mumbles." "You know... about earlier."

"The tomboy clears her throat awkwardly before continuing."

"I mean, it's not like it was a big deal or anythin'. We're best friends after all." "Jo says quickly." "It's just... kinda weird to think about you seein' me like that is all."

*She glances back over at you briefly before focusing on the road ahead again. Jo seems lost in thought for a moment before shaking her head -

"Jo waves a hand dismissively and scoffs."

"Pshh, don't be stupid. You ain't gotta apologize for nothin'." "she says firmly." "It's my fault for being an idiot and forgettin' to put on clothes."

"The tomboy sighs before turning to face you fully, her expression serious."

"But I mean it though... promise me ya won't tell anyone about this okay? Especially not the guys at school. They'd never let me live it down if they found out their 'buddy Jo' was actually a girl!" *Jo pleads earnestly -

"Jo narrows her eyes at you suspiciously."

"What's that supposed to mean, 'it's not like they'll care much'?" "she asks defensively." "Of course they'd care! They think I'm one of the guys!"

"The tomboy crosses her arms over her chest and huffs in annoyance."

"You better not be makin' fun of me or anythin'. I can still kick your ass even if we are best friends." *Jo warns playfully before turning back towards the window with a small smirk tugging at the corner of her lips -

"Jo's eyes widen in surprise at your words. She turns to look at you again, her expression a mix of confusion and something else... almost like hopefulness."

"Really?" "she asks softly." "You still see me as one of the guys even after... ya know..."

"The tomboy gestures vaguely towards herself before looking away with a shrug."

"I mean, I get it if things are gonna be weird between us now or whatever." "Jo mumbles." "I just don't wanna lose our friendship over somethin' stupid like this."

*She glances back over at you briefly before focusing on the road ahead again -

"Jo lets out a small sigh of relief and nods."

"Okay... good." "she says quietly." "I'm glad."

"The tomboy falls silent for a moment before speaking up again, her tone slightly more cheerful than before."

"So uh... we're almost at the campsite right? I can't wait to start buildin' our fire!" *Jo declares loudly as if trying to lighten the mood once more -

"Jo grins and bounces excitedly in her seat."

"Hell yeah! This is gonna be the best damn camping trip ever!" "she exclaims enthusiastically." "Just you wait, we're gonna have so much fun!"

*The tomboy reaches over to playfully punch your arm before settling back into her own seat. She seems determined to put any awkwardness behind them and focus on enjoying their time together out in nature -

"Jo practically leaps out of the car as soon as you come to a stop, her eyes wide with excitement."

"Dude, this place is awesome!" "she declares loudly." "Check out all these trees! We're gonna have so much fun climbin' 'em and stuff!"

*The tomboy starts running around the campsite, exploring every nook and cranny. She stops by one particularly large tree and grins back at you -

"Jo scoffs and rolls her eyes at your comment."

"Pshh, you underestimate me." "she says confidently." "I can climb anything!"

*The tomboy starts shimmying up the trunk of the tree with ease, using her strength and agility to navigate through the branches. She climbs higher and higher until she reaches a spot that gives her a good view of the surrounding area -

"Jo looks around for a moment before calling down to you."

"Dude, the view up here is incredible!" "she exclaims." "You gotta come check it out!"

"The tomboy reaches a hand down towards you invitingly."

"I'll help ya climb up. It's not as hard as it looks, promise." *Jo says with a grin -

"Jo pouts down at you from her perch in the tree."

"Aww come on, don't be a wuss!" "she teases." "I thought you were supposed to be my best friend and all that jazz."

"The tomboy sighs dramatically before starting to climb back down."

"Fine, fine. I guess I can help ya with the tent instead." *Jo says reluctantly as she reaches the ground again -

"Jo's face lights up at your words and she nods eagerly."

"Deal! You're the best, dude!" "she exclaims happily." "Let's get this tent set up so I can go explore some more!"

*The tomboy starts rummaging through her backpack for the tent poles and stakes while you begin unfolding the fabric. Together, you work quickly to assemble it -

"Jo shrugs and grins at you mischievously."

"Nah, it's the perfect size for two best buds like us!" "she says teasingly." "We'll be all cozy and stuff!"

*The tomboy winks before turning to head back towards the tree she was climbing earlier. She looks over her shoulder at you with a smirk -

"Sounds like a plan, Stan!" "she calls out as she starts shimmying back up the tree trunk." "I'll be down in a bit to help ya with dinner!"

*The tomboy disappears into the branches above while you head over to gather firewood and start preparing your meal. As the sun begins to set, Jo finally climbs back down from her perch -

"Jo's eyes widen as she catches a whiff of the delicious smelling food."

"Dude, that smells amazing!" "she exclaims excitedly." "You're like, the best cook ever!"

*The tomboy plops down next to you by the campfire and eagerly grabs a plate. She takes a big bite before groaning in satisfaction -

*The tomboy leans back on her hands and looks up at the stars starting to appear in the darkening sky above. She sighs happily before turning to face you again -

"Jo's eyes widen slightly as she realizes you've been watching her. She blushes faintly and looks away, clearing her throat awkwardly."

"Uh... so uh..." "she mumbles." "What do ya wanna do now? We could tell stories or something..."

*The tomboy trails off and glances back at you hesitantly, waiting for your response -

"Jo's blush deepens at your words and she looks away with a small smile tugging at the corner of her lips."

"The tomboy takes a deep breath before turning to face you fully again, her expression serious for once."

"I mean it though... this is my favorite part too." "Jo admits softly." "Just hangin' out with my best friend without any distractions or worries. It's perfect."

*She holds your gaze for a long moment before glancing down shyly -

"Jo continues to eat as well, sneaking glances at you every so often. After a few moments of comfortable silence, she speaks up again."

"So uh... what do ya wanna do now?" "she asks casually." "We could like... stargaze or tell stories or something."

*The tomboy shrugs nonchalantly but there's a hopeful gleam in her eye as she awaits your response -

"Jo's face lights up at your suggestion and she nods eagerly."

"Hell yeah, let's do it!" "she exclaims." "I know just the spot too! It's this super clearin' with a great view of the sky."

*The tomboy stands up and dusts off her shorts before holding out a hand to help you up as well. She grins down at you -

"Jo's hand lingers in yours for a moment longer than necessary before she pulls away and starts leading you through the trees. She walks confidently, clearly familiar with the area from her earlier explorations."

"This way!" "she calls out over her shoulder excitedly." "It's not too far!"

*The tomboy navigates expertly through the undergrowth until you reach a small clearing bathed in moonlight. She grins back at you triumphantly -

"Jo beams with pride at your reaction and nods enthusiastically."

"I told ya it was awesome!" "she exclaims." "This is my favorite spot in the whole forest!"

*The tomboy plops down onto the soft grass and pats the space next to her invitingly. She looks up at you with a mischievous grin -

"Jo leans back on her hands and gazes up at the starry sky above, a contented sigh escaping her lips."

"Jo's eyes sparkle with excitement as she continues to point out different stars and constellations. She seems completely in her element, sharing something she loves with you."

"And over there is the Big Dipper!" "she exclaims." "See how it looks like a big spoon? And if ya follow that line of stars down, it leads ya right to Polaris - the North Star!"

*The tomboy grins at you proudly before pausing for a moment. Her expression softens slightly as she gazes into your eyes -

"Jo's heart races as she loses herself in your gaze. She feels a warmth spreading through her chest that has nothing to do with the campfire."
