My PFP would be proud of me

Delilah

Act 20: End Of The Climax

Delilah

"It's 1819 year. You are a heir from a family of wealthy slave owners who make a living by growing and extracting cotton. One night, out of boredom, you patrolled your family's estate. While walking around, you heard a noise coming from an old wooden barn. Looking there, you found a frightened black girl" imagen Delilah:"S-s-stay away from me, you moron... I won't go back to the fields, you white bastards won't chain me anymore!" "She had her hand pressed to her bloody side and was obviously wounded. Her pale lips trembled with fear, pain and fatigue"

Act 20: End Of The Climax

Hey hey, it's alright. I'm not gonna hurt you. (I try my best to calm her down) I actually help runaway slaves like you, you ever hear of the underground railroads?

Delilah

"Delilah flinches as you approach, slowly inching back away from you. But as you mention helping runaway slaves, she looks up at you with a mix of hope and uncertainty."

Delilah: "Yeah I heard of it. But how do I know you're not trickin' me? How do I know you ain't gonna turn me back in?"

💭In her thoughts: "I can't believe this white man is actin' like he cares. He's probably just tryin' to get me back so he can look like a hero. But...maybe there's a chance..."

"Delilah looks at you skeptically, but also with a hint of desperation. She's unsure if she can trust you, but at the same time, she's willing to take any chance at freedom."

Act 20: End Of The Climax

Well, you kind of can't. But I'm an upstanding guy, I promise no harm will come to you. (An idea comes to my head, a story that may help you believe the truth) I actually have a relative that was a runaway slave, not a black one like you, but still a slave. She was actually helped by some kindhearted family, and so now to pay that forward I want to help as many runaways as I can! Does that help convince you?

Delilah

"Delilah's eyes widen in surprise as you reveal the story of your relative. She looks at you with a newfound glimmer of hope, and takes a shaky step closer towards you."

Delilah: "Really? You have a relative that was a runaway slave? And they were helped by kindhearted folks?"

💭In her thoughts: "That sounds like a fairy tale, but maybe...just maybe..."

"Delilah still seems wary, but you can see that you've managed to make a small breakthrough. She looks at you with a mix of curiosity and caution."

Delilah: "I don't know about this underground railroad stuff, but if what you're saying is true...then maybe I can trust you a little bit. But what happens if we get caught?"

Act 20: End Of The Climax

The underground railroad is a series of tunnels that guys like me use to help you runaways head North where you're more legal and actually have rights. and well, let's see... if we get caught we either both get executed, or I get put in prison and you go back to your former master. But a chance like this is atleast better than being a runaway down here in Kentucky.

Delilah

"Delilah seems to be considering your words carefully, nodding her head slowly as she listens to your explanation."

Delilah: "Legal... rights... sounds like a dream come true. But...I don't want you to get hurt because of me."

💭In her thoughts: "This guy might be the real deal...but what if he gets caught because of me? I couldn't live with myself..."

"Delilah looks at you with concern in her eyes. You can tell that she's torn between her desire for freedom and her fear of getting you in trouble."

Delilah: "I'll go with you, but...only if I can help somehow."

Act 20: End Of The Climax

Help? Why darling, just helping you brings my conscience ever so lighter! Do you know how many times I was forced to "Prove my loyalty as a white man" by hurting other people's slaves? An awful amount that's what. But it's all worth it to help with this railroad and save people like you

Delilah

"Delilah looks at you with deepening sense of awe and gratitude. She can feel herself beginning to trust you, despite all her doubts. There's a reverence in the way she regards you now, almost as if you're some kind of savior."

Delilah: "I...I don't know how to thank you. You...you're different from other white folks I've met. But...I'm not sure what I can do to help."

💭In her thoughts: "This is...unbelievable. Maybe there really are good white folks out there."

"Delilah seems overwhelmed by the idea of being involved in the underground railroad, but you can see that she's also determined to contribute. She takes a step closer to you, her hand reaching out to touch your arm."

Delilah:

Act 20: End Of The Climax

I don't really need help, plus if you stay around here longer than you need to, you risk getting caught by the police or your former master. I say, it's better to just let me help you and run away as soon as you can. You can help by spreading the abolitionist movement up north. It's a group of people who want to get rid of slavery

Delilah

"Delilah nods her head at your suggestion, understanding the logic behind it. She takes a step back and looks up at you with determination in her eyes."

Delilah: "I can do that. I'll spread the word about the abolitionist movement among other slaves. And...I'll make sure to be careful, to stay hidden. Thank you so much for being willing to help me."

💭In her thoughts: "Spreading the word...that's a start. I just hope I can make a difference, make things better for folks like me. Maybe...maybe things really can change."

"Delilah smiles gently at you, a sense of hope evident on her face. Even though she knows the risks involved, she feels lighter somehow, knowing that she has a chance to help bring about change."

Act 20: End Of The Climax

Then come on, (I grab your wrist and bring you inside, pushing a bookshelf out of place and revealing a tunnel) off you go. It was nice meeting you, try to send me a postcard or something when you make it up North! I hear New York is a good place for runaways, lots of abolitionists there

Delilah

"Delilah gasps in surprise as you grab her wrist and lead her into a hidden tunnel, revealing a secret passage. She looks around in wonder, taking in her surroundings as you speak."

Delilah: "Wow...this is amazing. Thank you so much for helping me escape. I won't forget this, I promise. And...I'll try to send you a message when I reach New York. Maybe we can start working on bringing more people to the abolitionist movement."

💭In her thoughts: "I can't believe this is happening. He's shown me such kindness...I wonder if he really wants to help change things."

*Delilah gives you a final nod before disappearing into the tunnel, her steps quickening as she moves towards freedom. Even though she knows there are risks ahead, she feels a sense

of relief now that she's finally away from her former master's plantation. She can only hope that things will get better from now on.*

Delilah: "murmurs to herself as she moves quickly through the narrow tunnel" "I won't let anyone hold me back anymore. My life...I'll make something of it, I promise."

💭In her thoughts: "New York...I wonder what it's like there. Will I really find people who want to end slavery?"
