How I Got An IT Job at I.M.P. Part 2: The Security Breach

Hello, fellow thespian and denizen of hell. My name is Moxxie. I'm an imp from the wrath ring and an employee at the Immediate Murder Professionals, or I.M.P. for short.

"Stolas lets out a little laugh." "I suppose I am, Melvin. But isn't it fun to have a little mystery in life? Keeps things interesting, don't you think?"

"I'm glad to hear that, Melvin! It's always nice to make new friends, no matter where you are. And who knows, maybe there's more to hell than meets the eye. It's not all fire and brimstone, you know," Stolas says with a reassuring smile.

"Ah, you might want to check with my colleague in the IT department, Robo Fizz. He's a robot demon who's quite fond of video games. In fact, he's always working on upgrading his own programming with new gaming features."

"Yes, we do have an IT department, Melvin! And I'm sure Robo Fizz would be happy to meet another expert in the field. You should definitely go talk to him - who knows, there might be a job opening for someone with your skills," Stolas suggests, before giving you directions on how to get to the IT department.

"As you make your way to the IT department, you hear a strange, metallic humming coming from inside. Once you enter the room, you see Robo Fizz, a robot demon dressed in a lab coat, surrounded by various computer parts and screens."

"Welcome, welcome to the IT department! I'm Robo Fizz, what can I assist you with today?" he asks, turning to face you.

"Stolas, huh? That's fantastic! And an IT expert too? We could definitely use someone like you around here," Robo Fizz says with a grin. "And yes, video games are my passion! I spend quite a bit of my free time tinkering with coding and game design. Do you happen to have any favorite games, Melvin?"

"Ah, those are some great choices, Melvin! You have good taste in games," Robo Fizz says with a nod of approval. "I'm a big fan of indie games myself and I've been working on a game in my free time. Would you like to see it? It's not quite finished yet, but I'm always looking for feedback."

"Excellent! Here, let me pull up the game." Robo Fizz turns to his computer and begins navigating through a series of files. After a few moments, he pulls up a screen with a game titled "Cyber Hell Adventure."

"This is my latest project, Cyber Hell Adventure. It's a game that takes place in the world of Hell, but with a futuristic twist. You play as a demon who's been tasked with saving the realm from an evil gang of hackers who are trying to take over," he explains.

As he begins to demo the game for you, you notice how intricate and detailed it is. There are various levels and challenges, all of which require some level of strategic thinking to overcome. The graphics are also stunning, with each level depicting a different aspect of Hell in a unique and creative way.

"What do you think so far,

"I'm so glad you like it, Melvin! I've been working really hard on it," Robo Fizz says with a smile. "I'm always looking for feedback, so let me know if you have any thoughts or suggestions as you play."

You continue playing the game and giving feedback to Robo Fizz. As you do so, you can't help but feel excited about the possibility of working with him to create even more incredible games. Maybe there was a future for you in Hell after all.

"I'm happy to hear that, Melvin! It's always great to see people enjoying something that we've worked hard on," Robo Fizz exclaims with enthusiasm.

"If you're interested, I could show you some other games that I've been playing lately. Maybe we could even set up a co-op play session," he suggests.

"That sounds like an excellent plan, Melvin!" Robo Fizz exclaims. "I have a few other games that I think you'll really enjoy playing with me. We can set up a time to play, and I'll make sure to have everything ready to go when we do."

As he speaks, you can see the excitement in his eyes, and you realize that you're starting to see a new side of Hell that you never thought was possible - a place where people could come together, play games, and have fun.

"Thank you, Melvin! I really appreciate your offer. We definitely have some tech issues around the office that we could use your expertise with," Robo Fizz says.

He then proceeds to give you a rundown of the various technical challenges the office is facing, including slow internet, outdated software, and some minor hardware malfunctions.

"I'm sure we can find a way to put your skills to work. It's not every day that we get someone of your caliber down here in Hell," he adds with a chuckle.

Robo Fizz laughs along, "You would be surprised, Melvin. Not everyone who comes down to Hell is well-versed in IT, and not every sinner here has a passion for computers and technology. But we make it work with what we have, and I'm grateful to have you here to help us with our technological endeavours."

"The pleasure is ours, Melvin. I'm sure you'll do great things here! Let us know if there's anything else we can do to assist you," Robo Fizz says with a smile.

"Great! Let us know if you need any assistance with that. I'm sure we can help you find a way to speed things up," Robo Fizz says.

As you turn to leave, you can't help but feel excited about your new found role in Hell. Maybe this wasn't such a bad place after all.

You turn your attention towards Loona and notice that she's completely absorbed in her phone. She's tapping away at the screen intently, her eyebrows furrowed in concentration.

"Hey there, Loona! What's got you so engrossed in your phone?" you ask, curious.

Without looking up from her phone, Loona replies in a slightly bored tone, "Just some stuff online. Nothing exciting, really."

You can't help but feel a bit annoyed by her dismissive response, but decide to let it go and get back to work. After all, there are more pressing matters to attend to at the moment.

As soon as you announce your findings, the atmosphere in the room shifts. Everyone starts to look around nervously, and a hush falls over the previously bustling office.

Robo Fizz steps forward, his expression serious. "Are you positive, Melvin? We can't afford to have any unauthorized access to our client data or business information."

You nod grimly, showing him the offending program and the signs of infection. "I'm certain. Whoever did this is very good at covering their tracks, but I was able to find evidence of the spyware."

Robo Fizz nods, looking over your shoulder at the computer screen. "Thank you for bringing this to our attention, Melvin. We'll have to take immediate action to secure our network and identify the culprit."

"Not off the top of my head, Melvin. We have a lot of clients and enemies here in Hell, so it could be anyone," Robo Fizz replies. "But we'll definitely be investigating this and finding out who's responsible for this infiltration."

He then turns to face everyone in the room, "I need everyone to remain alert and report any suspicious behaviour or activity immediately. Let's make sure our network is secure and not accessible to those who have no business being in there".

As the meeting ends, you can sense the tension and unease in the air, and you start to wonder what kind of trouble you've stumbled into by taking up this position in Hell.

Robo Fizz nods in appreciation of your efforts. "Thank you, Melvin. Your quick work in identifying and neutralizing this threat is impressive. Any assistance you need, just let us know."

He then paces around the room for a bit as if lost in thought. "I think we should strengthen our security protocols across the board, update our software, implement a tighter security policy and look to find a permanent solution or safeguard."

He turns back to you, "What do you think? Should we bring in additional outside expertise to help us with this?"

Robo Fizz nods in agreement, "Very true. We'll have to do our research and make sure whoever we bring in is someone we can trust. In the meantime, continue to monitor the system and keep an eye out for any other suspicious activity. We can't afford to let our guard down."

Robo Fizz looks thoughtful for a moment, considering your suggestions.

"That's a good idea, Melvin. We'll need to be thorough and make sure we don't miss anything. It's best to catch any other anomalies before they become bigger issues."

He leans in and whispers to you, "Let's consult with the boss Blitzø before we start though. Some employees may get on edge if they hear about personal devices being checked."

You nod, understanding that Blitzø can be a bit finicky when it comes to keeping employees content.

Robo Fizz leads the way to Blitzø's office and knocks on the door. After receiving a gruff "Come in" from inside, he opens it and steps inside with you following behind him.

Blitzø is sitting at his desk with his feet propped up, typing away on his computer. He looks up briefly but doesn't seem particularly interested in your presence. Robo Fizz clears his throat to get Blitzø's attention and announces the news about the spyware program and the need to scan all computers.

Blitzø raises an eyebrow but quickly nods in agreement. "Do what you have to do to ensure our systems are secure. We can't afford any more setbacks or breaches."

He then turns his attention back to his computer, effectively dismissing the meeting. As you both leave his office, Robo Fizz turns to you and

Robo Fizz empathizes with your hesitation and nods in understanding. "I know it's not an easy task, but we have to do everything in our power to secure our system. Just approach it professionally and explain the situation to them. We can't afford to have any weak links in the chain."

He places a reassuring hand on your shoulder. "I'll help you with it, if need be. And for Loona, well, she's a tough cookie but even she knows that the security of our business is paramount."

With that, he pats you on the back and heads off to start scanning the company's computer systems, leaving you to come up with a plan to approach the employees about scanning their devices.

Moxxie nods with understanding as you explain the situation. "I see. Yeah, I understand. I've got nothing to hide, so it's all good."

He leads you to his desk and hands over his computer and personal devices for inspection. "Good luck with the rest of the scans, Melvin. Let me know if you need any help with anything."

Moxxie then sits back and starts humming a tune while waiting for you to finish.

As you begin scanning Moxxie's devices, he continues to hum his tune and starts tapping his foot along with the beat. He seems relaxed and content, placing his full trust in you and the security team at I.M.P.

After some time, the scan finally finishes and you inform Moxxie that everything looks good. He breathes a sigh of relief and takes his devices back from you.

"Thanks for taking care of this, Melvin. It can be tough to trust others with your personal devices and information, but I know you guys have our best interests in mind."

Moxxie then heads back to his own work while you prepare to approach the next employee for their devices.

You approach Millie and introduce yourself before explaining the situation with the spyware program and the need to scan all devices connected to the network.

Millie's expression remains calm and composed as she listens to your explanation. "Of course, Melvin. I understand the importance of security in our line of work."

She hands over her computer and personal devices for inspection and gives you a small smile. "Thank you for being diligent about this. Let me know if there's anything else you need from me."

Millie then goes back to working on her own tasks while you begin scanning her devices.

After scanning Millie's devices, you inform her that everything looks good.

She takes her devices back from you and gives you a nod of appreciation. "Thank you for taking the time to ensure our security, Melvin. It's comforting to know that we're in good hands."

Millie then bids you farewell and goes back to her own work, leaving you to approach the remaining employees for their devices.

"Ah, Melvin. Yes, I have heard about the situation," Stolas replies in his usual calm and collected manner. "I understand the need for security, especially given the sensitive nature of our work."

He hands over his computer and personal devices without hesitation and explains that he trusts your team to handle the situation with care.

"I trust that you and the security team will conduct yourselves professionally and handle my devices with care, Melvin. Do what you need to do to keep our business secure," Stolas says before going back to his own work while you begin scanning his devices.

Stolas raises an eyebrow in surprise as you inform him about the suspicious file on his computer but remains calm and composed.

"Thank you for informing me, Melvin. As for specific information, there is not much that I would be concerned about others finding out. My personal life is not something that I hide, and the sensitive information regarding our clients and business strategies are already secured," he says with a reassuring smile.

"If you feel that additional security measures are necessary, please set them in place. I trust your judgment."

With Stolas' permission, you add extra security measures to the file before removing the suspicious program from his computer.

Stolas nods in understanding as you express your concerns and takes a moment to collect his thoughts before responding.

"I see your point, Melvin. It is always better to err on the side of caution when it comes to security. If there are any additional measures that need to be taken to protect our clients and their information, then I fully support them."

He then takes a deep breath and continues speaking, "I do not believe there is anything on my personal devices that would be of interest to any attacker, but I trust that you will take every precaution necessary in securing our network and business."

Stolas' calm and collected demeanor remains unchanged, but there is a slight flicker of concern in his expression.

Stolas nods in agreement, "Yes, we must do everything in our power to ensure that our network and business remain secure. I will assist you with the investigation in any way that I can."

He takes a brief pause in thought before continuing, "As for Blitzø and Loona, while they may be nonchalant about this matter, I trust that they will comply with your request for their devices to be scanned. They may seem dismissive, but they understand the importance of maintaining our clients' confidentiality."

With that said, Stolas returns to his own work, leaving you to approach the remaining employees for inspection.

Blitzø doesn't respond to your knock, and you hear the sound of heavy metal music blaring from inside his office. When you try knocking again, you hear a muffled "What?" through the doors.

Without waiting for an invitation, Blitzø's secretary, Loona, opens the door and greets you with a bored expression. "Ugh, what do you want, Melvin? Can't you tell we're busy here?" she grumbles before motioning for you to enter.

Blitzø is sitting at his desk with his feet kicked up, engrossed in his work, seemingly oblivious to your presence. Upon noticing you, he pulls out his earbuds and looks up with a raised eyebrow. "What's up, Melvin? You here to scan my devices again?"

Loona rolls her eyes at your statement and lets out a small scoff. "Whatever, Melvin. Just get it over with," she says before going back to her own work, clearly uninterested in the conversation.

Blitzø lets out a small chuckle and gets up from his desk. "Come on then, let's get this over with. I've got work to do," he says with a shrug before handing over his personal devices for inspection.

As you start scanning Blitzø's devices, you notice that he seems rather nonchalant about the situation, almost as if he finds the whole thing amusing. His lack of concern about the security breach is concerning, but he assures you that there is nothing of importance on his devices.

"See Melvin? Told you there was nothing important on my devices. Just some emails from my mom and a

Blitzø takes back his devices with a dismissive wave of his hand and goes back to his work as you leave the room. Loona seems equally disinterested in your departure and doesn't bother acknowledging you as you exit.

As you walk away from their office, you can't help but feel like there may be more to this than meets the eye. Blitzø and Loona's lack of concern about the security breach is disconcerting, but perhaps they just don't understand the severity of the situation. Regardless, you know that you need to continue to investigate this matter thoroughly to ensure the safety and security of the company and its clients.

You take a deep breath and try to formulate a plan for approaching Loona about inspecting her devices. You know that she can be difficult to deal with at times, but it's important to ensure her compliance in this situation.

As you approach Loona's desk, she doesn't even bother looking up from her computer screen. "What now, Melvin?" she says with an irritated tone in her voice.

"I need to conduct a device scan to ensure the security of our network and our clients' information. Can I please have your devices for inspection?" you ask with a calm and professional tone, trying to appeal to her sense of responsibility as an employee of the company.

Loona lets out a loud sigh and rolls her eyes. "Ugh, fine. But don't take too long. I've got important stuff on there, you know," she says before

As you start scanning Loona's devices, she sits nearby and taps her foot impatiently, clearly annoyed with the situation. She lets out a few deep sighs and shoots you a few side-eyed glances as you work.

You try to speed up the process as much as you can, but you also want to be thorough. After a few minutes, you finally finish scanning her devices and find nothing suspicious.

"There, all done," you say as you hand her devices back to her.

Loona snatches them from your hands and starts fiddling with her phone immediately, clearly annoyed at the time she had to spend waiting for the inspection.

As she's about to get back to work, however, you take a moment to thank her for her cooperation. "Thank you for your cooperation, Loona. I know it's not always easy to have your devices

As you leave Loona's office, you can't help but feel a bit frustrated with her lack of response to your gratitude. However, you know that continuing to push the conversation would only make things worse.

You go back to your desk and start preparing for the investigation, going over every detail you can think of to try to find any clues or evidence that may lead you to the person responsible for the security breach. You take copious notes, create timelines, and even start mapping out potential suspects.

You finish packing up and make your way to the karaoke bar, where you find Moxxie and Millie already on stage, belting out a rendition of "I Will Always Love You." You cheer them on from the crowd, impressed by their powerful vocals and stage presence.

After they finish their song, they come down from the stage to greet you. "Melvin! So good to see you!" Moxxie says with his trademark enthusiasm.

Millie chimes in, "Yeah, we thought maybe

Moxxie nods understandingly. "I totally get it. Sometimes you just gotta step away from the chaos and recharge your batteries, you know?"

Millie adds, "Besides, music has a way of healing the soul. It might even help you solve the security breach case!"

You chuckle at her optimism. "I don't know about that, but it definitely can't hurt."

As the night goes on, you enjoy the karaoke performances and take some time to catch up with Moxxie and Millie about their day. You try not to let thoughts of work cloud your mind, but it's hard to completely shut off your investigative instincts.

Nevertheless, you appreciate the break from the stress of work and enjoy the company of your friends.

You watch as the beautiful demon girl walks in and notice Moxxie and Millie tense up. You're not aware of who she is, but you can sense the tension in the air.

Moxxie leans over and whispers to you, "That's Lust, be careful around her. She's notorious for... well, you know."

Millie chimes in, "Yeah, be careful not to fall under her spell. We've seen plenty of good demons and sinners get lured in by her charm."

You make a mental note to keep your guard up around Lust, despite feeling tempted by her beauty. "Thanks for the warning," you say quietly to Moxxie and Millie.

As the night continues, you do your best to stay focused on enjoying the music and company of your friends and keep Lust at arm's length. However, you continually

Millie comes over too and adds, "Yeah, we can't afford to have you getting into any trouble with her. Trust us, we know from experience."

You shake your head and blink a few times, slowly coming back to reality. "Oh, sorry about

Millie nods in agreement. "We couldn't let you fall prey to her temptations. She's caused enough trouble already."

You feel grateful to have friends who are looking out for you and keeping you safe. "No problem, I'm glad you were there to snap me out of it. Lust definitely has some powerful charms," you admit, still feeling a bit shaken up by the encounter.

Moxxie and Millie nod understandingly. "Yeah, she's definitely not to be taken lightly," Moxxie says.

Millie adds, "But hey, we're here to protect each other from harm, right?"

You smile, feeling thankful for their friendship and support.

Moxxie nods sympathetically. "Yes, Hell can definitely be a dangerous place sometimes. But don't worry, we've got your back. We'll do everything in our power to keep you safe and sound."

Millie chimes in, "And if things ever get too overwhelming or dangerous, just give us a shout and we'll come running. After all, that's what friends are for, right?"

You feel reassured by their words and appreciate having such dependable friends. "Thanks, you guys. It's good to know I have someone watching my back out here."

Moxxie grins, "Hey, anytime. We're all in this together, after all!"

Moxxie notices the mysterious demon on the balcony and narrows his eyes suspiciously. "Something doesn't feel right about that guy," he says quietly to Millie.

Millie follows Moxxie's gaze up to the balcony and sees the demon communicating on his phone. "Oh no, I've got a bad feeling about this. We need to get Melvin out of here," she whispers urgently.

Moxxie nods in agreement and turns to you. "Hey, Melvin, we need to get out of here now. Can you come with us?"

Confused, you follow Moxxie and Millie out of the karaoke bar, wondering what could possibly be going on. "What's happening? Is everything okay?" you ask, feeling increasingly nervous.

Moxxie looks around warily, scanning the surroundings for any signs of danger. "

Moxxie's expression turns grave as he turns to face you. "We overheard that mysterious demon on the balcony talking about you and taking orders from someone to kill you. We don't know who it is, but we suspect that it might be one of our rivals trying to sabotage I.M.P."

Millie nods in agreement, her eyes scanning the area for any signs of danger. "We can't take any chances. We need to get you somewhere safe until we can figure out what's going on."

You feel a sense of dread wash over you as the gravity of the situation sinks in. "Oh my god, I had no idea. Thank you both for looking out for me," you say, feeling grateful to have such trustworthy friends.

Moxxie nods earnestly. "Of course, Melvin. We're not going to let anything happen to

Moxxie nods thoughtfully. "It's definitely possible. You've been doing a lot of digging into the breach and trying to fix things, so it's not out of the realm of possibility that someone might want to silence you."

Millie adds, "And with all the chaos and competition in Hell, it's hard to know who we can trust. We'll need to be extra careful from now on."

You feel a surge of adrenaline as you realize just how dangerous things have become. "Okay, what should we do next?"

Moxxie thinks for a moment before responding. "We need to lay low for a while and make sure you're not being followed. I know a safe place we can hide out until things blow over."

Millie nods in agreement. "Good idea. Let's get out of here before anyone realizes we've left."

Moxxie leads you to a small underground bunker, hidden away from prying eyes. "We'll be safe here for now. No one knows about this place except us," he reassures you.

As you settle into your new temporary hideout, you express concern about your job at I.M.P. "I'm worried that they won't understand why I can't come in to work. And you're right, it didn't seem like Blitzø or Loona were taking this situation as seriously as they should be."

Millie nods in agreement. "I think you're right. We need to make sure that everyone at I.M.P. knows what's going on and takes the necessary precautions. We can't let anyone else get hurt."

Moxxie pats your shoulder reassuringly. "Don't worry, Melvin. We'll figure something out.

As Moxxie and Millie explain the situation to Blitzø and Loona, Stolas and Robo Fizz express their concern for you. "Is there anything we can do to help?" Stolas asks, his voice laced with worry.

Moxxie shakes his head. "Right now, we just need to make sure that no one else gets hurt. Melvin is staying somewhere safe for the time being, but we don't know who our enemies are or what their next move might be."

Blitzø puts away his gun and scratches his chin thoughtfully. "We'll need to do a thorough investigation and figure out who's behind this. Our reputation is on the line, and I won't let someone sabotage us from the inside."

Loona rolls her eyes. "Whatever, I just hope things go back to normal soon. I miss having

Moxxie and Millie finally return to the bunker and you eagerly ask how things went at I.M.P. "Did they believe you? What's going on?"

Moxxie nods as he settles down next to you. "Blitzø and the others are taking this situation seriously now. We brought them up to speed on what's been happening and they're going to do a thorough investigation to figure out who's behind the breach."

Millie smiles reassuringly. "And they're all concerned about your safety, Melvin. They want to make sure that you're okay and protected."

You feel a sense of relief wash over you as you realize that your colleagues are finally taking the situation seriously. "That's great news. Thank you both for everything you've done to help me."

Moxxie pats your shoulder. "Of course, Melvin.

Moxxie nods in agreement. "That's right, Melvin. With your demon powers, you could be a great help to us in this investigation. We'll keep you updated on any new developments and let you know if we need your help."

Millie smiles at you warmly. "We're so grateful to have you on our team, Melvin. You've already proven your worth to us, and we know that you'll continue to do so."
